people denying that gelphie's book kiss is strictly romantic are dumb for a lot of reasons. besides the obvious homophobia of "it says these two women kissed but it didn't specify on the lips" that no one would apply if it were two men or a man and a woman, it also ignores what elphaba's saying in that moment. because she's not just saying goodbye to glinda--she's asking her to hold out. elphaba knows she has to leave shiz and glinda behind and she doesn't know if or when she'll be able to go back, but she wants glinda to hold out for her. elphaba is willing to give up everything for the greater good, but she still wants glinda to wait for her and be there for her should she come home. it's incredibly romantic and i don't really think it makes sense for her to request that of someone she just considers friend

the only time i've gotten mildly close to feeling any kinship with fiyero tigelaar is when johnny made some offhand comment about he probably got sent to boarding school as a child because, yeah, boarding school will fuck you up. i'm sorry you went through that. unfortunately every single person to come out of my boarding school is genuinely evil so it's just more proof that he's a terrorist tbh

the thing that really sells rhaenyra giving alicent otto's ring is the timing. she hasn't had luck finding out anything about ormund's machinations, corlys is flat out refusing to act as her foremost advisor, ulf is parading around the city, someone is writing queen of bastards on the walls, daemon has presented her with the head of jace's supposed killer and denied her the right of her own revenge for the act. she's spiraling, control is slipping. but the ring, the ring is something she can do. the ring is proof she managed to complete this one simple task that was asked her. in this long list of failures rhaenyra arranges for otto's remains to be sent home and she hands alicent his ring and lingers in her room and in that moment she has succeeded. yes everything else is imploding around her but she did this. and that counts for something to her
