Curious what are the main/most common pieces of bad art advice you see in the youtube space? You dont have to get into it if it's Controversial or smth tho no worries
I think a lot of it is I don’t like anything that boils down to changing your art to make it more ‘marketable’. Like yes of course artists need to market themselves, I think that’s a valuable skill to have and I like a lot of vids about that, but anything that tell you to change the way you draw/what you’re drawing rubs me the wrong way. Like I saw a video being like ‘stop making detailed art because people only look at it for like 2 seconds max, no one is going to zoom in on all of the details :-)’ like first of all… I definitely am! and second I just think that’s such bad advice for new artists

people who don't use or spend time on tumblr don't really understand how solid this place is for creatives and how we could be living in artist utopia if they fully undid the nsfw ban. the tag system? the dashboard? the silly anons who will send you the most insane sentences known to mankind? having your very old, shitty art make the rounds again because somebody finds value from it and wants to show their friends? no other place even comes close
