Smaug - The Hobbit (1977)
My breath... Death.
– Frank Frazetta
This Savage Barbarian Princess Has Some Unusual Notions…
but please cosider displaying some cultural sensitivity, her pets seem a little touchy…
Never trust anyone who can read; they are keeping secrets from you.
Stray cats turn into vengeful ghosts during the New Moon.
Making eye contact with a wizard endangers your soul.
Clan mythology warns of any interaction with winged creatures.
Terror of torches; they dull the senses and get you shot full of arrows.
Behead every snake you see or they will hunt down your shade in the afterlife.
Armor makes you look weak.
Accepting freely offered gifts may cloud your mind and make you the unwitting servitor of the giver; goods must be earned through labor or stolen fair and square.
Eating fruits and vegetables erodes the warrior’s prowess.
Only fear your enemies after they are dead.
Insects tiny enough to enter your ear canal can (and will try to) steal your knowledge.
Fear of fear itself; owing to immersion in barbarous stoicism from youth, any terror exhibited by others will trigger pent up anxieties.
Just good advice

Dungeon Outline
If you follow Matthew Colville, you might know he just posted up a new video talking about The Dungeon! Inspired by his video, I thought I’d make a quick outline with some generic questions/answers you might want to ask when making a dungeon and deciding on a theme. These questions are answered for a personal dungeon I’m building and they could be changed, ignored, or expanded on almost infinitely!Â
What other questions might you want to ask or answer when making a dungeon?Â
Been away for awhile.
It’s been wild since coming back to New Mexico almost two years ago. My gaming life is simultaneously at its peak, and at its lowest. I’m no longer playing with my closest friends, for who I’ve been running games for many, many years. Instead, I’m trying to forge a new dedicated gaming group which you probably know is pretty tough. Fortunately, my wife (I got married in September), works at the best game store in Albuquerque. Although that has exposed me to a lot of new people who like D&D, it’s still tough simply being in a new city with different tastes. For instance, I basically stopped playing Pathfinder because everyone out here is way more into 5E - which I’m glad for, because I love 5E. The gaming group I do have now mostly consists of students - all of which are about to leave school or take a whole year abroad. TLDR; it’s been challenging.Â
Some highlights though - I’ve started getting way more into war gaming. Warhammer Age of Sigmar (not a 40K fan, really), Frostgrave, Rangers of Shadow Deep (both of which are small publisher games that are some personal favorites), and exploring other RPGs like Tales From the Loop, Kids on Bikes, and if all goes well, I’ll be participating in a The One Ring game that’s gonna be more than one session.Â
I’ve also been playing a ton of board games. My Little Scythe is a current favorite. The Fallout board game is actually really cool (and more fun than I’ve ever had playing a Fallout video game). Deep Madness, a claustrophobic game that feels like a mix of Aliens, Event Horizon, and Sphere is a lot of fun and incredibly challenging. I’m trying to get a few people to start (and finish) a Kingdom Death campaign since I hate that it’s just sitting in my game closet.Â
Anyway, that’s what I’ve been up to and why I haven’t had many “pro tips” lately. Aside from the fact that there’s SO MUCH content (and better content than I could summon) out there with Web DM and (my personal favorite) Matthew Colville. However, I have been considering making something - be it a Youtube channel or a Podcast or something - celebrating and talking about games that are from small(er) publishers than Wizards of the Coast and the other juggernauts in gaming. We’ll see.Â
If you read through all this - thanks! Hopefully I’ll have some good stuff for you soon. Â
A few pics of my current team for Rangers of Shadow Deep. An amazing blend of skirmish war gaming and RPGs with a simple, casual ruleset meant to be played either solo or co-op with a friend. It's available on RPGNow.com on PDF or print on demand. Give it a shot! Miniature s from the Frostgrave line, war hound by Reaper.
New miniature painting for an incredible solo mini game/RPG called Rangers of Shadow Deep!
Reblog this with a 6 word summary of your last d&d session
Mine is “Lost my religion eat a croissant”
Body swapping is not fucking fun.
I greatly overestimated my players…
Weeding the yard followed by barbecue.
Drow wantonly murders many fish people
froze frog eggs, became a god
Whoops I killed three player characters.
