Okay, everybody, I have a story about random shit in college. When I was in college, there was a particular class I took where, no matter what time you walked into class, if you made it into the room before the professor, you wouldn’t be counted late. I mean, that’s a pretty cool policy, given how some professors are really obnoxious about attendance.
Well, one time, a fellow student of mine was running late to class. As she reached the edge of the building, she saw her professor making it to the front steps (super long rectangular building here). He looks up from walking and he sees her. He then points to his watch, gives her a well-meaning “Look who’s late” face, and walks on inside.
What he didn’t know, though, was that this particular student was like freakishly good at bouldering and related climbing skills, so she was just like “Fuck it” and SCALED THE BUILDING!
She tapped on the window of the 4th floor classroom (the floors had like 20ft ceilings, so, she was quite a ways up there), nearly making one student piss himself. They opened the window, she rolled through, onto the floor, and slid into her seat about five seconds before the professor opened the door to the classroom.
He did a double take, started to say “How the hell d—” when a security guard ran in, red-faced and panting, pointed at her and bellowed “STOP DOING THAT!”

I know I run a book blog so maybe this isn’t the right platform for this, but girls: Please look out for other girls. Tonight I was stuck at a bus stop in Shoreditch circa 2 AM and saw another young woman getting harassed by a drunk, aggressive dude, and at first I thought, “She’s got it under control.” But then he started touching her and I went “No, that’s definitely not right.” So I barged over and shoved him out of the way and said, “Beth?? Oh my God, how are you, I haven’t seen you since grade school!” And this girl I’d never seen before in my life threw her arms around my neck and whispered, “You are an angel, thank God.” We talked for fifteen minutes, the creep lost interest, I watched her get on the bus and I will sleep so much better knowing she got home in one piece. If you see something weird happening, intervene. The worst that can happen is embarrassment, and I think that’s worth the risk when you consider the alternative.

1. I am the oldest of five children. I’m 22, my sister is 21, my brothers are 10 and 12 and the youngest isn’t born yet (-:
2. My favorite cartoonists are Bill Watterson and Roz Chast.
3. The first horror movie I ever watched through was the remake of the Poltergeist. I was underwhelmed.
4. I’ll eat pretty much anything as long as its non-toxic. There are foods I don’t like (Celery, Onions, etc) but I will eat most of them.
5. That being said, I will not eat pigs-in-a-blanket. When I was 8 they were my favorite food but I had some at a friends house and it made pretty much every single kid there violently ill except my sister (because she only ate three) . Now I will only eat them if I am STARVING (never happened and hopefully never will) and even then grass would look like a better option.
6. The first comics I ever read were old Tom and Jerry comics and Disney comics.
7. The first SUPERHERO comics I ever read were Spiderman. He’s still my favorite though Batman is pretty awesome too.
8. I don’t like Star Wars comics. There is no good reason why, I just get irritated at every character involved.
9. I still don’t know the history behind Arbor Day.
10. I don’t care very much about things. People misinterpret this as confidence.
