harlem.zoya Hot, devastation, loss, sorrow is only a few words that could describe the Dixie Fire. It’s been burning since July 13th, I’ve been waiting for the call that would dispatch our fire department. I got that a few days ago. It is now recorded as the biggest fire in California’s history. You will never be prepared to see this kind of scene, no matter how many times you see it. While on that front line you think about a lot and your life really flashes before your eyes but you have to remain vigilant. You think about your family, your fire family, the families who have been affected by this fire and other uncontrollable circumstances. It feels like it’s never ending but we fight through it because of the many people counting on us to combat fires, to come home and to safely execute our jobs. The adrenaline really pumps through you and keeps you going.
