The rest of your day passes smoothly, with nobody even sparing you a look, and suddenly youâre on your way home, to rest off your stress and agitation. Yoongi will occasionally look at you, sometimes even with a soft look on his face. Youâve realized heâs always quiet, even when heâs around the boys.
Speaking of the boys, theyâre coming over tonight to hang out with Namjoon. You decide to stay in your room, even though Jungkook will probably try to get you to come out, as you seem to be someone he enjoys talking to, since you share a love for video games, namely, overwatch. As you walk around your room softly, you think about what Yoongi said to you earlier.
âWhy are you so quiet?â He looked at you, and grinned slightly.
âI donât know. Is there something you want to talk about? Your next class is really far.â You shrug.
âHow did you meet Namjoon? You seem to be really close to him.â You turn right with him flanking your left, shooting yet another angry look to a passerby.
âWe met in a cafe close to your house, actually. He knocked my papers out of my hands, and then he managed to do it twice, so I figured we needed to know each other. Fate loves me. And maybe, fate loves you too, weâll just have to see.â
Just like that, he was gone, and he didnât bring it up again later, when he walked you to Namjoonâs car. You couldnât help but try to dissect his statement. Fate loves me. And maybe, fate loves you too, weâll just have to see. Huffing in confusion, you flop onto your bed and cuddle your squishiest pillow. Boys are so odd, why are they so peculiar?
Within moments, the doorbell rings, and Namjoon answers. You hear the six distinct voices reverberating throughout your house.
âHey! Whereâs Y/n?â Jungkook inquires, most likely with a childish pout adorning his lips.
âSheâs resting, itâs best to let her be. I have something I need to talk to you all about, anyway, so itâs for the best that she isnât here.â Silence is met to your ears at his statement. What? What could they need to talk about, that you shouldnât hear? You decide stupidly to stay awake for their visit, to try and hear whatever they have to talk about. You try to rest your ear on the door, but you canât hear anything, so you open your door as quietly as possible. Down the hall, in Namjoonâs room, you can hear them talking.
âWhatâs with you, Yoongi? You never seem so interested in humans.â Seokjin is speaking to him, softly enough that you can barely hear. Humans? Are they NOT human? A sigh grabs your attention.
âSheâs different. I donât know, Iâve always been drawn to her like-â Yoongi begins with a deep breath.
âThatâs still my sister, Yoongi, word choice is key.â Ah, Namjoon, always being your personal spokesperson, even at times when you didnât really ask for him to be.
âI heard this story, the other day, Namjoon.â Hoseok speaks up over the boys.
âAbout humans. You know how we became, what we are. The reason we have to carry out our duties.â Silence. This topic must be difficult for them. What are they talking about though? âThey say, that before we were reincarnated, we all had someone we were supposed to meet, someone who would have saved us from our- demises. But, since we prematurely took our lives against fateâs plan, we are doomed to meet them and watch them in agony, but never be able to make it stop, until we leave.â A stale tension rises in the air as they sit there in the news.
âSo, I might have been fated to meet her in my original life?â Yoongi breathes out again.
âI think so, Yoongi. Thatâs why youâre so attracted to her. She was supposed to save you, but you never let her.â
âSo thatâs why, Thatâs why I canât help but laugh at all her jokes, why sheâs so addicting to be around?â
âThatâs right. I did some research, and it checks out. I would recommend you try to distance yourself from her, even though it will hurt you. She will constantly get bullied until she becomes like you if you stay around, and this life isnât good for Y/n. We all know that.â You get up, and walk away from the door silently. What you just heard, you donât understand. You shake your shoulders and head to the kitchen to grab yourself your favorite snack, cookies. You love to bake, and cook, because Joon very much cannot. Namjoon cooking always ends with the kitchen looking like a bomb went off, paired with explicatives, and once, he even set fire to the food. You pitied that side of Namjoon, the only thing besides piano you were better than him at.
Namjoonâs door opens, and boys flood down the hallway, passing the kitchen. All except Jungkook, who waltzes into the kitchen behind you.
âHey kookie, look!â You hand him one of your snacks.
âA cookie, for kookie!â He looks away, unamused, and shoves the cookie into his mouth.
âI donât think thatâs very funny, Y/n.â His blush and spaced out look bring you to a giggle.
âOh, come on! You have to admit, it was pretty good, right?â He smirks, buut tries to act cool still.
âNot funny.â His small smirk is a full on grin as he turns away and walks toward the door.
âIâve gotta go, stay funny, Y/n!â You nod and smile to him as he takes a last look at you before walking back out to join the boys. Nibbling on your cookies, you scroll through your phone. In your messages is an image, received when you were talking to Jungkook. Itâs of you, taken as you are now, a cookie in your mouth. You gasp and drop everything in your hands, rushing to the living room with your phone.
âY/n? Whatâs wrong?â
âSomeoneâs stalking us.â
âYou cannot be serious.â Namjoon casually strides to you, taking your phone from your shaking hands, and looks at it.
âWhere was it even taken?â Namjoon pales.
âThe window. Someone was watching through the kitchen window. Drop all the blinds. Now. Boys, weâll go look around the house, make sure weâre safe. Y/n, do not come out of this house, yeah?â You nod and scramble to close any peek of the outside your house has. All blinds shut, you sit anxiously awaiting the boys to return. After ten agonizing minutes, Yoongi enters the house and takes a seat far from you.
âThe boys are finishing up looking, but in the meantime, thereâs something I would like to tell you something.â You nod and look to him expectantly, twiddling your thumbs. âI am not, human. Iâm not a monster, before you jump to conclusions. I, and the boys as well, am a grim reaper, a creature commonly thought of as one person. There are many of us. We help guide souls to their final judgements in a lifetime. Then, the souls either get sent back to earth, or they go to heaven, and if they donât, they go to eternal damnation. This is the human equivalent of hell. I know itâs a lot to take in, and I will answer all of your questions.â He shifts uncomfortably in his seat, and you can see him shaking slightly, like heâs nervous about your reaction to the new information.
âHow did you become this way?â
âAs you may believe, fate controls everything around us. Fate, however, is not concrete. One could potentially make a rash decision and throw fate off. Those who manage to really throw her off, meet her wrath. When someone commits suicide far before they have completed their lifeâs purpose, they are sent to a different form of damnation, where they live a life of reaping souls. That is how I was created to this form.â You take a shaky breath, and nod.
âAll of you? All 7? Even Joon?â He smiles sadly.
âYes. We all work together to send souls to where they belong.â
âAnd where will I go?â
âI could only imagine you going to heaven, or being reincarnated. You arenât even close to being evil.â
At this point, the boys start filing through the doorway with solemn looks on their faces.
âYoongi, this is no longer safe.â Jungkook looks to you with upset eyes.
âWhat?â You look to them all for answers.
âY/n. If I hadnât have killed myself, your soul was supposed to save mine. In our past lives. I never got to meet you, and you never got to fulfill your purpose because of my selfishness, so you were reincarnated. The other side to the curse on me is that if I found you, you would constantly suffer until your death. The only way for you to be happy is for me to leave.â Your hands grip your knees and tears blur your vision. You canât really explain why, but you can feel your soul screaming in agony, you can feel your head bursting with pain, your heart shattering.
âNo, no, no, whatâs happening, help me!â You cry out in broken sobs and you grasp for anything to comfort you, meeting Namjoonâs soft arms, as your vision blurs to blackness.
âItâs okay, Y/n, itâll all be okay.â Jungkook whispers into your hair.
âDonât let him go, please.â I reach for the fading image of your brother.
âOkay, okay, rest please.â
