If you are female in any leftist, progressive or an lgbtq+ affirming community pay good attention to how the males around you speak of women who are not on your side.
Do they make sexual comments about her body? Do they disparage her weight? Do they call her bitch? Do they say âsuck my dickâ? Do they spread rape threats, or openly fantasize about harming her? Do they call women who speak up about issues which affect them Karens? Do they downplay, ignore, or make light of abuse she has gone through?
Itâs likely that you can think of a few examples of this you have seen, because I was once where you were. Telling myself it didnât matter because we were on the âright sideâ anyway. Thinking that maybe if a woman was awful enough I could ignore the vitriolic sexist abuse thrown at her. Misogyny was only truly so bad if it was aimed at the good obedient females, like me.
But maybe if you slip up, youâll get a taste. Youâll realize that every woman like you is walking around with a loaded gun pointed at her head. If you say the wrong thing or offend the wrong male all of the sudden the hatred that you thought was reserved for the evil women is staring you down the barrel.
You donât know what men truly think of you when you are in agreement with them.
