What companies think will happen in my brain when they lock basic features behind apps or paywalls: "I need the app or the upgrade to use this. I guess I'll do that!"
What actually happens in my brain: "I can't believe these basic functions aren't available. Time to find another option."
Corporation: Bu-bu- if you can't have it for free, you HAVE to pay!
Me: Or I just don't have to have it.
Corporation: but it's a basic feature! You can't NOT have it!
Me: Sounds like if someone needs this basic feature in order to use your services, the feature should be free or the entire service should be worth enough to be paywalled.
Corporation: That's not how that works! You've gotta get addicted to using the service and not know what to do without it, so when I make basic features a premium, you'll pay me!!!
Me: Doesn't work like that in my world, sweetheart, but thanks for reminding me that I don't need your services.
