hi!! I'm TDF and this is what's in my only bank account rn:

I'm multiply disabled and living under the poverty line. My income adds up to about 1/3 of the local minimum wage.

I am stuck in bed most of the time because my physical health is so bad, and I have expenses nondisabled people don't.

right now I'm asking for help with groceries, medication, and hygiene/cleaning items, if any financially secure adult is willing to help!

Many of the items on my list are $5 or less, I just literally do not have $5 rn.

last month was SO expensive w all the various problems/emergencies and having to feed multiple additional people who have celiac disease.

I ended up having to borrow money just for necessities, because even for one person my tiny income is not enough. Paying it back will take about half my grocery budget for July.

I'm making do as best I can. I've put off getting many necessities as long as possible and I'm eating cheap stuff that causes physical pain to save money.

But I'm stuck in bed even more than usual rn with a chronic illness flareup, so I need things I can easily prepare without leaving bed. I have a mini fridge and a microwave next to the bed, so that part isn't so bad, but convenient foods (esp those that don't cause pain!) are expensive.

And all the meds and hygiene stuff I've been delaying are making their absence strongly felt. 😅

fewer people dead of vaccine preventable illnesses in the global south bc the greatest barrier to distributing some vaccines like hpv is their ip

library of the world: every book and journal article in the world could be digitised and be searchable for every person in the world to read regardless of where they live. cheap reprint runs and local translations everywhere.

freedom from the hell that is DRM software

everytime someone reverse engineered your shitty proprietary software we would all be freed from it instead of them getting DMCA'd

so much hardware would be opened up & therefore made so much cooler.

so many more songs that riff off and sample and interpolate shit from this decade instead of like 70 years ago and more analysis of music that didn't keep getting nuked off the internet

preserving movies and tv shows and games as long as someone, somewhere has the desire to host them

just go publish your fanfic/art/vid as is instead of all us pretending it isn't fanwork or begging the corporation for mercy / licensing

With a heavy heart, I come to you all with the news announced by close friends of Cat Frazier that she had passed away on Monday, June 29.

She had been running @animatedtext since 2012, with her impact on the internet SHAPING tumblr. If you have a years long history on this site, you’ve seen her art.

She ran a venue in Oakland called Oakland Secret, a punk venue where I’d vend at regularly as an artist. She made a safe space for queer artists, artists of color, and local furs too. I am forever grateful for her work both in the Bay Area creative scene and online, and am forever changed by the totality of her impact.
