Jared, your shipper side is showing.
I think we really need to reaffirm now that no amount of homophobia can be acceptable in our culture. There is no such this as harmless or victimless homophobia. All homophobia contributes to violence against us. You can not ādisagreeā with lgbt peopleās ālifestylesā without supporting the rhetoric and legislation that puts us in very real danger.
Homophobia isnāt that black and white though. You can hate the sin and still love the sinner.Ā
OK, as a queer person who grew up in a genuinely loving, caring, utterly wonderful, and still deeply homophobic Church, let me try to fill in what youāre not understanding about this whole āLove the sinnerā deal.
When we refer to people like you as āHomophobicā I want to be clear what weāre saying here.Ā This is not a judgment of your intent.Ā We are not describing you as a hateful person, as an aggressive or violent person.Ā But we are saying that your actions and your attitudes participate in and reinforce a system of rhetoric that encourages violence against LGBT people, and, far, far more importantly, that forces millions of LGBT people to live in shame.
Thatās really what this comes down to.Ā Not hate.Ā Not violence.Ā Shame.
Consider the point purely theologically.Ā Jesus tells us that to desire a sinful thing is as bad as to act on that desire.Ā My lusting after another mans wife is as bad as actually sleeping with her.Ā My genuine desire to hurt someone is as bad as actually hurting them.
So when you tell me that loving another man is a sin, youāre not just talking about physical acts of intimacy.Ā You donāt get to draw the line there.Ā You donāt get to pretend that I can be bisexual so long as I never actually physically act on it (which is already a terrible burden to place on someone).Ā Youāre saying that every time I look at a guy and imagine how soft his lips would be, or think about how beautiful his eyes are, I am sinning.Ā I am a sinner every time a dude walks past me with a tight sweater on that shows of his arms.Ā Every time he has nice hair or a nice smile.
My love, according to you, is a sin.Ā That is the burden you are forcing people to live under.Ā That burden forced me so deep into the closet that I didnāt even know I was there.Ā It forced me to repress every genuine feeling of sexual attraction for other men, and to live for years with those feelings straining to get out, whilst I struggled with the constant guilt and shame that came from having those thoughts.
And I am one of the lucky ones, because Iām alive to have this conversation.Ā Because for many, many LGBT people that guilt and shame manifests as self-harm, substance abuse, low esteem that leads them into abusive relationships, and very often suicide.
You tell yourself that youāre one of the good ones because you donāt hate us.Ā You only hate what we ādoā.Ā But what we ādoā is living.Ā Itās being alive and whole and a part of this world, and if you genuinely believe that we canāt have that then you might as well put the gun to our heads and pull the trigger.Ā Because youāre already doing that, you just donāt have the guts to admit it.
āYou only hate what we do, but what we do is livingā Wow. This is beautiful and so well written

I wonder if, in superhero universes, the villains ever get contacted by thoseĀ āMake a Wish Foundationā and similar people.
I mean, the heroes do, of course they do, kids who want to meet Spiderman or Superman or get to be carried by the Flash as he runs through Central City for just thirty seconds.
But surely there are also the kids, who - because they are kids and sometimes kids are just weird - decide that what they really, really want is to meet a supervillain. Because heās scary or sheās awesome or that freeze ray is just really, really cool, you know?
Oh, man, that would absolutely be a thing. The heroes would be so weirded out by it. The villains with codes of ethics would totally band together to force the villains without one (should they be the one requested) to do their part for the cause.
But imagine the person who has to track down the villains and organise everything?
Like, the first time it happens, no one actually thinks itās possible, but one of the newbies volunteers to at least try. They get lucky, the kid wants to meet one of the villains who is well known to have a personal code of ethics (eg one of the rogues), and it takes them weeks to track the villain down to this one bar theyāve been seen at a few times, plus a week of staking out said bar, but they finally find them.
So they approach the villain, very politely introduce themselves and explain the situation, finishing with an assurance that, should the villain agree, no law enforcement or heroes will be informed of the meeting.
The villain, assuming itās a joke, laughs in their face.
At this point, the poor volunteer, who has giving up weeks of their time and no small amount of effort to track down this villain, all so a sweet little girl can meet the person who somehow inspired them, well, at this point the employee sees red.
They explode, yelling at this villain about the little girl who, for some unknown reason, absolutely loved them, had a hand-made stuffed toy of them and was inspired by their struggle to keeping fighting her own and wasnāt the villain supposed to have ethics? The entire bar is witness to this big bad villain getting scolded by some bookish nobody a foot shorter than them.
When the volunteer is done, the villain calmly knocks back their drink, grips the volunteers shoulder and drags them outside. The barās patrons assume that person will never be seen again, the volunteer included. But once theyāre outside, the villain apologises for their assumption, asks for the kidās details so they can drop by in the near future, not saying when for obvious reasons. They also give the very relieved volunteer a phone number to call if someone asks for them again.
A week later, the little girlās room is coveredĀ in villain merchandise, several expensive and clearly stolen gifts and she is happily clutching a stack of signed polaroids of her and the villain.
The next time a kid asks to meet a villain, guess who gets that assignment?
Turns out, the first villain was quite touched by the experience of meeting their little fan, and word has gotten around. The second villain happily agrees when they realise itās the same volunteer who asked the other guy. Unfortunately, one of the heroes sees the villain entering the kidās hospital and obviously assumes the worst. They rush in, ready to drag the villain out, but the volunteer stands in their way. The hero spends five minutes getting scolded for trying to stop the villain from actually doing a good thing and almost ruining the kidās wish. The volunteer gets a reputation among villains as someone who can not only be trusted with personal contact numbers but who will do everything they can to keep law enforcement away during their visits.
The volunteer has a phonebook written in cypher of all the villainās phone numbers, with asterixes next to the ones to call if any other villains give them trouble.
Around the office, they gain the unofficial job title of The Villain Wrangler.

things that still freak me out: those sinks americans have in their kitchens that you can destroy stuff with
Honestly this post has been on my mind all day. Those weird destructosinks for people with too much money are apparently common in America. And Americans get defensive over them.
Well donāt come crying to me when your wean gets eaten by the fucking kitchen sink.
hOLY SHIT WHAT IF U TRY AND CLEAN THE PLUG AND TURN IT ON IM SO SCARED
Okay it took me for-fucking-ever to figure out wtf you guys are talking about are you talking about garbage disposals? Like down the drain??

Child. Wean means child.
Okay, so you put your CHILD in a sink and stuff them down the drain? Thatās⦠thatās definitely worse.

Commissions!
So summer so far has been very rough on me. I have until August 13th to move out, and Iāve found a place but I really need to get both the deposit in and to pay back the university for a class I failed (thanks, mental breakdowns). Iām looking at a truly terrifying amount of money, but right now I just really need to get things going on housing. I have a job with hours that are constantly in flux and is only done at piece rate, so thereās no way of telling how long it would take me to earn the money I need. The deposit is 375, and the University is 721. I have some headway made, but not nearly enough.
Hence, commissions!
Most comfortable with-
Dragon Age Supernatural Merlin Discworld Lord of the Rings Iām more than willing to write whatever you like. Ā Toss the rare ships this way, every crack idea you ever had and didnāt want to admit to, Iām more than content to write for it. Ā Iām good with just about every kink there is, but to be on the safe side weād obviously discuss that before writing started.
Iām also more than willing to do poetry, especially fandom based poetry. Right now Iād like to do things under 3K words, just so that I can have the turn around a little quicker. Iām also more than happy if you want to sponsor a chapter or a sequel to one of my works.
Fanfiction: Ā Ā Ā 1 dollar per hundred words. Ā Ā Ā Thatās it, thatās the list. Ā Itās pretty straightforward.
Poetry: Ā Ā 1-2 pages: $3 Ā Ā 3 + pages: $5

āwomen donāt know how much rejection hurtsā i wasnāt allowed to play with legos or touch a football or look at sports. i wasnāt allowed to eat more. i wasnāt allowed to talk loudly, to laugh too much, to inject myself into male conversations. i wasnāt allowed to be good at science. i was toldĀ āoh sweetheart, have another college in mind, STEM fields are hard.ā i got turned down from jobs in favor of boys where were less qualified. one boss told me he was hesitant to hire me because my last name is hispanic and iām pretty and he didnāt want theĀ ācontroversy.ā i couldnāt take up space on the train. i would be talked over in public places. i couldnāt eat steak or drink beer, they wereĀ āboyā things. video games were off limits, i wasnāt allowed to ask if i could see more characters like myself in them. super heroes were all men, women were just love interests. i wanted shirts with wonderwoman, with black widow, with harley quinn, i found next to nothing. i wanted pockets and colors other than pink and clothes designed for warmth, not sexy, i got nothing. women change their name to be published nationally. i wasnāt allowed to be emotional, i wasnāt good at driving, i wasnāt in charge of my own body. i wasnāt allowed to show off my body, i wasnāt allowed to dress modestly. i had to be pretty, whatever it took, but my eating was constantly made fun of. āsheās, like, anorexicā was a punchline, not a disorder.Ā āsheās fatā was a death sentence.Ā
boys said no because: i wasnāt pretty i wasnāt small i was too loud i spent too much energy on being funny on because i wouldnāt shut up what a feminazi i wasnāt smart i was too smart for my own good i was always reading i was always busy i was too needy i was too independent i was not who you took home i was too much of a house mom i was perfect and it was scary.
women donāt know. women donāt know. never sat in a room and wrote angsty poetry about this shit. somehow both overemotional and not capable of knowing how much rejection stings. which one is it. which one is it. iāll give you a hint: weāve been rejected since the first time our parents said,Ā āno, not the blue blanket, itās for little boys to play with.ā we are used to havingĀ ānoā slammed in our faces. we got used to it. maybe the reason it seems so unnatural to hearĀ ānoā is because for your entire life, you heardĀ āyes.ā

I just donāt understand where this concept of āfake geek girlsā came from. Like, AT ALL.
Cus when I look for fandom related stuff like 90% of the fan art and the fanfiction and the meta, zines, comics, etc. Like 90% of the shit that Iāve seen is created by women & girls.
And all that stuff takeās a lot of work and research and critical analysis and staring at reference photos for hours.
We are literally the most well versed and invested group in the fandom. So, like, What the fuck boys? You mad you canāt keep up?
I saw an argument, and I canāt find it now, (edit! KILLERZEBRAS FOUND IT. Ā Go read the original thoughts here: LINK))Ā but it totally made sense, that thereās a gender split in fandom. Male fandom tends to be a curator fandom; male fandom collects, organizes, and memorizes facts and figures. Male fandom tends to be KEEPERS of the canon; the fandom places great weight on those who have the biggest collection, the deepest knowledge of obscure subjects, the first appearances, creators, character interactions.
Female fandom is creative. Females create fanart, cosplay, fanwritings. Female fandom ALTERS canon, for the simple reason that canon does not serve female fandom. In order for it to fit the āoutsiderā (female, queer, POC), the canon must be attacked and rebuilt, and that takes creation.
āMaleā fandom devalues this contribution to fandom, because it is not the ārightā kind of fandom. āGirls only cosplay for attention, theyāre not REAL fans!ā āFanfiction is full of stupid Mary Sues, girls only do it so they can make out with the main character!ā āI, a male artist, have done this pin-up work and can put it in my portfolio! You, a female artist, have drawn stupid fanart, and itās not appropriate to use as a professional reference!ā
In the mind of people who decry the āfake geek girl,ā this fandom is not as worthy. It damages, or in their mind, destroys the canon. What is the point of memorizing every possible romantic entanglement of heterosexual white Danny Rand if someone turns around and creates a fanwork depicting him as a bisexual female of Asian descent (thus subverting Randās creepy āwhite saviorā origins)? When Danny Rand becomes Dani Rand, their power is lessened. What is important to them ceases to be the focus of the discussion. Creation and curatorship can work in tandom, but typically, in fandom, they are on opposite poles.
This is not to say that there arenāt brilliant male cosplayers or smashing female trivia experts, this is to say that the need of the individual fan is met with opposing concepts: In order for me to find myself in comics, I need to make that space for myself, and that is a creative force. Het white cis males are more likely to do anything possible to defend and preserve the canon because the canon is built to cater to them.
this is why its depressing to work in a pharmacy.
I was definitely a profit killer when I worked in a pharmacy (which honestly was my favorite job in the entire world, but it was short-lived and nowadays you canāt work at a pharmacy like that, itās all tied in with corporate retail and no one should ever trust me with a cash register ever). It was not, however, actually a profit killer for the pharmacy, just for the drug companies, so no one cared. These days I do medical billing, which means I actually bill OUT from hospitals so Iām mostly spending my professional time taking money away from insurance companies.Ā
I will now impart all of my profit killing resources onto you, in case you donāt know them. I think most of you know them, now. But just in case you donāt.
THIS IS US-CENTRIC. IāM SORRY.Ā
1. GoodRx - this thing has an app now, so you can look up the best places to get your expensive medicines at the lowest possible prices without insurance on the go, and you no longer have to print coupons because you can just hand over your phone or tablet. Times have changed for the better with GoodRx. Definitely use it before trying to fill your scrip, because it will tell you the best place to go. (You can do that on the website, too.)
2. NeedyMeds - Needymeds is basically the clearinghouse of drug payment assistance. They have their own discount cards, but also connections to many patient assistance programs run by drug companies themselves. They are good assistance programs, too.
3. Ask your county - This is not a link. This is a pro tip. Most county social services will have pharmacy discount programs for people with no and/or shitty pharmaceutical coverage. You can often just find them hanging around at social services offices; you can just pick one up and walk off with it.Ā
4. Ordering online - There are a few safe online pharmacies. I keep a little database in a text file on my computer. Most of them are courtesy of CFS forums, my mother or voidbat, so a lot of that is a hat tip to other people, but if youāre in need of a place to get a drug without a prescription ⦠first Iāll make sure you 100% know what youāre doing for safety reasons and then Iām happy to turn over a link.Ā
5. Healthfinder - A government resource that helps find patient assistance programs in your area. This might also point out the convenient county card thing. RxHope is something a lot of people get pointed to via Healthfinder thatās a good program.
6. Mental Health America - Keeps a list of their best PAPs for psychiatric medications, which can be some of the most expensive and a lot of pharmacy plans donāt cover them at all.Ā
This is so important ppl.
Signal boost the shit out of it!
Booooooooooooooooooost
Good Rx Saved my family a hundred dollars a month while I was getting signed up for CHIP seriously itās a life savor especially for ridiculously expensive drugs like abilify

Recently Iāve seen lot of posts where McGonagall freaks out when Harryās children start Hogwarts and I know it sounds funny but it really bothers me that some people think this is something she would do.Ā
Letās just remember that she:
- fought and survived THREE wars. - had to deal with the marauders AND Voldemortās inner circle when they were young. - kept the Weasley twins at bay.Ā - perfectly managed a school full of teenagers when every year a psychopath tried to kill Harry. - had to bury most of her dearest and brilliant students. - had to deal with the fact she is one of the main reasons why the Death Eaters were really good, she taught them well and then used this knowledge to kill. - spent months living in constant mortal peril when Snape was headmaster and never cared about her safety, her main concern were her students. - HAD TO ALWAYS FIX DUMBLEDORK STUPID MISTAKES BECAUSE HE HAD NO CLUE ABOUT HOW TO MANAGE A SCHOOL AND ALWAYS KEPT HER IN THE DARK UNTIL THE SHIT HIT FAN THEN IT WAS HER RESPONSABILITY TO SAVE THE DAY. - was only ādefeatedā once and it was because she was fighting against FOUR Aurors when they tried to arrest Hagrid.Ā - was feared and respected even by the Death Eaters and the corrupted Ministry of Magic.Ā - classy dealt with Dolores Umbridge even when her career was in danger.
Do you really think she would be scared of a bunch of kids just for their last name?!
Come on! She will be like āFinally! I was getting really boredā.
Those children are so not ready for Minerva āMcBadassā McGonagall.
McGonagallās wand is made of fir which is literally calledĀ āthe survivorās wandā (x). Even her wand knows that nobody fucks with McGonagall. Remember that time she took multiple Stunning Spells to the chest that should have killed her?
Honestly those kids should be scared of her.
Broke af?
But still interested in feeding yourself? What if I told you that thereās a woman with a blog who had to feed both herself and her young sonā¦on 10 British pounds ($15/14 Euro) per week?
Let me tell you a thing.
This woman saved my life last year. Actually saved my life. I had a piggy bank full of change and thatās it. Many people in my fandom might remember that dark time as when I had to hock my writing skills in exchange for donations. I cried a lot then.Ā
This is real talk, people: I marked down exactly what I needed to buy, totaled it, counted out that exact change, and then went to three different stores to buy what I needed so I didnāt have to dump a load of change on just one person. I was already embarrassed, but to feel people staring? Utter shame suffused me. The reasons behind that are another post all together.Ā
AgirlcalledJack.com is run by a British woman who was on benefits for years. Things got desperate. She had to find a way to feed herself and her son using just the basics that could be found at the supermarket. But the recipes she came up with are amazing.Ā
You have to consider the differing costs of things between countries, but if you just have three ingredients in your cupboard, this woman will tell you what to do with it. Check what you already have. Chances are you have the basics of a filling meal already.Ā
Hereās her list of kitchen basics.Ā
Bake your own bread. Itās easier than you think.Ā Hereās a list of many recipes, each using some variation of just plain flour, yeast, some oil, maybe water or lemon juice. And kneading bread is therapeutic.Ā
Make your own pastaāgluten free.Ā
She gets it. She really does.Ā This is the article that started it all. Itās calledĀ āHunger Hurtsā.
She has vegan recipes.
A carrot, a can of kidney beans, and some cumin will get you a really filling soupā¦or throw in some flour for binding and youāve got yourself a burger.Ā
Donāt have an oven or the stove isnāt available? She covers that in her Microwave Cooking section.Ā
She has a book, but many recipes can be found on her blog for free. She prices her recipes down to the cent, and every year she participates in a project calledĀ āLiving Below the Lineā where she has to live on 1 BP per day of food for five days.Ā
Things improved for me a little, but her website is my go to. I learned how to bake bread (using my crockpot, but that was my own twist), and I have a little cart full of things that saved me back then, just in case I need them again. She gives you the tools to feed yourself, for very little money, and thatās a fabulous feeling.Ā
Tip: Whenever you have a little extra money, buy a 10 dollar/pound/euro giftcard from your discount grocer. Stash it. Thatās your super emergency money. Make sure they donāt charge by the month for lack of use, though.
I donāt care if it sounds like an advertisementāyou wonāt be buying anything from the site. What I DO care about is your mental, emotional, and physical healthāand dammit, foodās right in the center of that.Ā
If you donāt need this now, pass it on to someone who does. Pass it on anyway, because do you REALLY know which of the people in your life is in need? Which follower might be staring at their own piggy bank? Trust me: someone out there needs to see this.Ā
Reblogging for all the impoverished students. Jack is the breadline queen. And if you donāt need this - donate to your nearest food bank, stat.
