i am taking a couple of days off from the mural now that it's mostly done and i've been having a blast watching Witch Hat Atelier with my partner and they just introduced ol' Ruggio and listen! this is nice! this is good! very homosexuélle

however...

as a substantial facial hair wearer, while i think the goatee fits him a little better in the manga, i feel like the facial hair feels a little off in the anime. it's like they drew him as a typical clean shaven ikimen and just drew the goatee in afterwards ala the magnetic doodleface toy

NOW. if i were to be allowed to nitpick and couldn't change anything but the goatee, i'd mess with the shape of the mustache to where it's heavier in the center and tapers off at the corners of the mouth as well as i'd extend the hair on the bottom lip up to his lip line and gradient out the sides at the jawline a little to make the overall look a little scruffier

however,,,,,,,,,

if i was to have my own preferences catered to, i'd make the mustache all around a little fuller, squish the sides of his head in to give him a little sharper/more angular look. I'd also fill out his eyebrows and widen his mouth as well as give him a more substantial shnozz just for zest.

the anime is gorgeous and i'm absolutely hooked, this is just me having fun playing what ifs :3
