Honestly the reason I prefer queer to lgbt+ and kind of see queer as a different community to lgbt+ is that lgbt+ is based on identity alone where as I feel like queer is an experience, I have more in common with a cishet allo ally gnc man who gets called slurs on the regular for performing gender wrong than I do with any gay person who gatekeeps identity on the Internet.

Plus, some of us get too insular with the other members of their particular letter. The cis lesbians congregate with the cis lesbians and suddenly you have TERFs. The cis gays congregate with the cis gays, and suddenly you've got a pack of The Good Ones who prioritize their proximity to privilege over their kinship with the rest of us. The Bi's start fighting with the Pans over who is the most attracted to multiple genders. Everyone gangs up on the transes for some god forsaken unknown reason. Fuck all that. If you're not straight or cisgender, you're queer, whether you like it or not. We're not all in this to get along, we're in this to protect eachother from the pigs and the fascists; and we don't do that by turning our backs on eachother. If you're offended by being called queer, good, remember that sting, because right wingers don't mean it with the same love and comradery I do; and once they've chipped away at whichever group of queers they've decided is the easiest target, you're liable to be next.

I think you're kind of missing the point of the original post a little bit. I honestly believe that you can be cishet and queer, queer is a subculture and a political identity. It doesn't matter what your gender identity or sexuality is if you're actively a part of the queer community.
