omfd: our mean fag's death
Afro Hairstyle VIII competition

Tonight I am so grateful that I never had or have to come out to my parents. They made sure I knew that gay and trans are things that people are and that it would be okay if I was those things, that they were just different shades of normal. I'm so glad they weren't attached to the idea of me being straight and cis, because even progressive parents can be shocked and respond badly when they find out *their* kid is queer.
Everyone deserves that security. That's what we keep fighting for. I feel so lucky that I got that growing up and I hope we can make it the norm some day.
Everyone on twitter mercilessly dunking on this person rn. They keep insisting that their objection is 'the outfit' and Im like. Ok let's give you the benefit of the doubt and assume that really is All You Meant. Have u ever set foot in a university lmao.
I've been to ivy league campuses for events, consortiums & symposiums, and seen students AND faculty of ALL races & genders dressed just like him. Heck, even IN THAT PHOTO, I don't see any suit trousers or Prada pumps or Armani loafers worn by any of his WHITE classmates either. 𤔠So how is "the outfit" the problem????? š§
This is racism plain and simple. There is no dresscode in the Humanities y'all. š¤£
I am Black. For YEARS I had to take Latin in undergrad AND Ancient Greek in grad school, and I've NEVER seen gaggles of students OR professors show up in a suit and loafers and smoking jacket or whatever TF this BIGOT was expecting. I went to a bougie PWI and I PROMISE YOU: darn near everyone shows up in sweats, hoodies, tshirts, uggs, etc; and by summer half of the white girls are in miniskirts & Daisy-dukes showing their arsecrack to the whole world, cleavage just spilling. š«£ There are ONLY TWO (2) grad students I know who consistently dress to the nines, and EVERYONE looks at them in awe, cuz even the rich AF students (the children of MILLIONAIRES who drive around campus in Benzes) don't GAF what they wear to class. My fellow WHITE grad students asked at TA orientation if they needed to show up in formal wear for class or presentations, and even the professors (all of them old white Europeans btw) said wear whatever you want. I'm a goth, and when I went to class in my black lace dress on the first day, the professor joked to ask if that was my CASUAL WEAR. š I showed up to my MA defense in an anime tshirt I got at ComicCon. Still got my degree, cuz academic standing has NOTHING to do with clothes. šš
So just admit y'all racist white folk don't want Black integration and stop the lies already ffs. š¤

when I say autistic people can write poetry, I mean autistic people with higher support needs. I mean people whose poetry is written via symbol based AAC, who are putting cards with pictures and sight words on them in order to make something that has meaning to them, even if it doesnāt make sense to a neurotypical.
when I say autistic people can play baseball, Iām not talking about āthis pro pitcher has a special interestā Iām talking about how the local little league team should take a chance on a nonspeaking kid with a care aide who comes with them to practice, so they get the experience of hanging out with friends and doing a group activity too.
when I say autistic people can date, Iām not talking about people who say they have āa touch of the ātismā on their hinge profile. Iām talking about the rights of adults in day programs to hold hands. The rights of institutionalized people to have sex. The rights of queer teens in life skills classes to get sex ed that applies to them.
you need to presume potential. You need to start from a place of ācan.ā You need to give autistic people the right to try.
there's a jewish story about a rich man who goes to his rabbi to ask him about building an orphanage, and the rabbi is like "yeah duh go for it!!" and then later the rich guy comes back and is like "actually I've decided not to... I was just doing it for my own image and not coz I cared about orphans" and the rabbi was like "bitch the orphans don't care why you're building the orphanage!!!" and sometimes I wish I could say that to lefties who haven't unpacked their christian upbringing. sometimes motives don't matter!! who give a fuck why a politician wants to do a good thing? bitch the orphans don't!!
intentions don't count for shit if the actual result is bad.
reading is fundamental.

the problem of fandom reducing characters who are women and/or people of colour to sexist/racist stereotypes is definitely aggravated by the fact that a lot of fans simply do not pay very much attention to these characters in the first place then subconsciously paper over the gaps in their perception with things theyāve been culturally conditioned to believe are true about people in the same category as said character
many cases where youāll see someone say something about a character and itās like hmm i donāt think that idea is supported anywhere in canon but i can tell exactly which stereotype you got it from

The people who police your gender will police your gender even if you're cis.
Eat them.
"OH those body builder women with pancake breasts arent-" eat them.
"This woman has a beard, thats not-" eat them.
"That man has a baby face, that's not" - eat them with barbecue sauce.
Eat them. You will never be gender enough for their definition of gender. Eat them.
"Eddie, we have to go to Texas. We have to eat the TERF's. We have to Eddie, we're heroes Eddie"
blorby stede and blorby ed are proud of you for making it through another week! don't forget to have a little treat and be kind to yourself!!!!!!! š„ŗšš„°ššššš

I love having friends who reject diet culture. I love going out when everyone buys food and drinks that they enjoy. I love people who will pipe up and suggest we stop for a snack or grab a meal. I love ordering what I want and no one making comments other than how good it looks (and maybe asking to steal a bite off my plate). I love revelling in how full we are after a good meal and taking a break to appreciate how fortunate we are. I love sharing snack from our bags with one another. I love enjoying the pleasure of food and drinks and good company.
my mom told me that white people donāt have piƱatas for their birthdays and i thought that was crazy and it sounded fake. so since this is the white people website i have to ask if youāve had a piƱata for ur birthday
im white and i have had a piƱata for my bday
iām white and i have NOT had a piƱata for my birthday
im not white but i wanted to press the shiny button
when itās really bad again and itās still way better than it used to be but itās still really bad. and you do all the right stuff and you try and try and it still really hurts but itās working but it still hurts and you go see the beautiful majesty of nature and your soul is so close to being at peace but your mind is still in pain. and itās better but itās still bad. and the sun is setting.

Ed finds Stede's spectacles forgotten on top of the book they are currently reading, it's one of the few books Stede managed to find during a raid and that they took with them after leaving the Revenge. He picks the spectacles, gingerly, cringing at how dirty the round glasses are, knowing too damn well those are his fingertips on the smooth surface, left there in his haste to get them off and away from Stede's face, perched on his lap, the night before.
He cleans them thoroughly until every smudge is gone, he is going to put them back where he first found them but he hears Stede's familiar footsteps entering the room behind him, so he turns around and crosses the distance between them, putting the spectacles on for Stede.
" Better?" Stede is watching him like he has never seen him before, his eyes traveling across his face, as if he were committing every detail to memory.
He nods, " thank you, my heart."
.
Stede loses his spectacles four months into their new life. They search for them for hours, admitting their defeat when the Sun sets and their candles aren't enough to light every nook and cranny of their home.
Stede definitely doesn't pout about it, even after Ed promises him he will find them or get new ones for Stede, even if he has no idea where he would be able to get them. He does stop the pouting once Ed offers reading to him for a change before bed, his eyes alight as he nods, rushing to hand Ed the book they are reading and dismissing Ed's warning about his inability to do the voices like he does them.
The next day, while they work in different parts of their house, crossing paths from time to time and stopping the other to share brief kisses, something shiny catches Ed's eye. He crouches down next to the shelves he built for Stede's books and there they are, under one of them, glinting with a ray of sunshine, Stede's spectacles. He grins, picking them up and dusting them off, he doesn't waste a second,
"Hey Stede!" he calls out as soon as he spots him, working outside in their slowly growing garden. Stede waves at him and Ed makes his way to where he is kneeling on the ground, bending down to put spectacles on for Stede. He gets a bright smile back, hazel eyes adoringly looking up at him, taking him in, seeing him in a way no one has ever seen him before.
" Thank you, my heart."
.
Stede has just put the spectacles on when one of the round lenses falls from the frame, landing right on Ed's forehead since he is laying with his head resting comfortably on Stede's lap. They both burst out laughing after a beat of silence, Stede quickly picks up the lens, his laughter dying as he focuses on trying to get the lens back in the frame. Ed watches him, taking in his frankly adorable determined expression, waiting for him to put the spectacles on again. They make him look so handsome. Ed might be biased, since he thinks Stede always looks good, even if Stede himself stubbornly refuses to believe it.
A small, triumphal, " aha!" brings him back to the moment, and he stops Stede before he can put the spectacles on again, taking them from Stede to clean them and put them on for Stede himself.
" Looking good." He winks delighted by the pink blush that appears on Stede's cheeks.
Stede bends down to kiss the tip of his nose, locking eyes with him for what feels like an eternity but isn't more than a few breaths " thank you, my heart."
