Just watched Adam Conover (of Adam Ruins Everything) make such a solid point that I think we should spread far and wide. Yes, having AI write your emails is lazy, sure, but people love being lazy. We need to really emphasize that sending AI emails (or using AI responses on social media, or publishing AI flyers, or or or) is rude.

It's rude. You're making someone take their time to read something you couldn't bother to write. You're telling them they were so unimportant you couldn't be bothered to actually take the time to say something yourself. And frankly, you're lying about it while you're at it.

I think I probably would have medically transitioned (particularly gone on HRT) had I learned about being transgender when I was younger. Not really learning about gender identity until I was well into university definitely changed my relationship with my gender and what I desired (and still desire) to do about it. I’ve had many life experiences, and now have a career, that make those kind of things less desirable to me personally. I’m very blessed in that my dysphoria isn’t so severe that I require HRT to survive (at least not right now), but it does make me wonder what I could have become had I known more, and known it sooner.

This is not an invitation to tell me that it’s not too late, that I don’t know the future, that I can still become that person, that I’ve seen the TV glow, etc. I’m tired. I’ve suffered many things as a woman, experienced many joyous things as a woman. Yet, I’m not a woman. I have a career I value and I do work that fulfills me. I have a professional and personal identity that I can live with. Not just live with, but thrive in.

But ten years ago, no, more than that, I could have been a different man. But I’m not. Happy Pride to all of the men and women that could have been. Happy Pride to all of you who aren’t. May you thrive as you are. May the ones that come after us have more.
