While I havenāt seen one a full way through, Iāve seen multiple episodes of different harem animes and will be able to talk about tropes involved. I probably have watched other shows too, but those are like my high knowledge shows.
Also ask me to explain things more in any of my posts because itās usually ramblings and Iām aware I can be confusing.

A recall for nearly 1.6 million dozen eggs has been upgraded to the highest risk warning by the FDA. Here's what that means for consumers.
On Aug. 12, the FDA reclassified a recall for nearly 1.6 million dozen white and brown cage-free eggs due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall is now Class I, which is considered "a situation in which there is a reasonable probability that the use of or exposure to a violative product will cause serious adverse health consequences or death," according to the FDA.
As of July 24, a salmonella outbreak linked to the recalled eggs has sickened at least 98 people and hospitalized 26 across 17 states. The illnesses were reported between Nov. 21, 2025, and June 30, 2026. The FDA and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) were aware of 26 hospitalizations due to the recall, but no deaths.
I would like to emphasize that I agree with all of these tags by the way. My post wasn't aiming to pin all of Europe's grotesque racism on the new elections.
A few weeks ago I was at a board game night with some of my old classmates from various mainland European countries. They started talking about how horrible Trump's treatment of immigrants is and how they're so glad to be in Europe where nothing like that is happening right now. I asked them what they thought about the fact that their own governments were complicit in turning the Mediterranean into a mass grave of asylum seekers, and some of them legitimately didn't even know and were surprised to hear that their own governments had enacted policies that caused the deaths of thousands of asylum seekers.
Even here in Iceland, almost nobody has been talking about the fact that some of the far right populist parties have legitimately been talking about wanting to establish detainment camps to keep asylum seekers in.
This post is a few months old now, and the bit about Iceland is now outdated, because Alþingi (the Icelandic parliament) passed the bill approving the detention center for asylum seekers. It will be legal to handcuff and detain children there.
Never let anyone from Europe feed you the lie that racism and fascism are unique to North America in the 21st century.
Something interesting is that in early to mid 2000s cop shows with a female lead, they manage to do what animes do a lot when they have a male lead. That being, give them more chemistry with characters of the same gender than the characters of the opposite.

I used to work with kids and I can understand some frustration with them. I try my absolute best to be respectful and explain my actions to them. But sometimes, despite all that, the kids I worked with would still do things that are dumb and/or dangerous. Like I once had a fourth grader pull out a chunk of a five graderās hair. We (me and my coworkers) then tried separating them and they both threw fits. So I can understand that sometimes youāre frustrated.
BUT most of the time theyāre not like that. They donāt fully understand the world. A preschooler once asked me how gravity worked and why their hair stuck up on the slide. I gave part of the puberty talk to a 12 year old because she asked. Iāve played Uno and trash until I wanted to die. Iāve had kids make me drawings and Iāve taught crafts. Iāve made a giant lava lamp once to teach them about oil and water. They are so curious and creative. They are some of the most interesting people to talk to. And treating them like theyāre inconvenient to exist, like theyāre scum of the earth, like theyāre stupid, is just plain cruelty.
Are they smarter than you? Probably not, but theyāve been on this planet for a very short while and arenāt gonna know everything you know because youāve been taught it and they havenāt. That doesnāt mean you shouldnāt treat them like people. In fact, treating them like people is going to make them better people. Explain your actions to help them explain theirās. Communicate your feelings so they can too. Let them make small decisions so when the big decisions happen they can make them. Teach them. Make mistakes and acknowledge them so they can too.
I gave a girl a full on apology because I yelled at her when I thought she was hurting another kid. She wasnāt, it was friendly roughhousing. I made a mistake, took her aside, and told her I was sorry for yelling at her, I misunderstood, and it was wrong of me to yell at her and assume things without having all the facts. Why? Because it is what you do. You apologize when you make those mistakes. You show you know what you did wrong and say that youāre sorry. And you should especially do this with kids so they can know how to apologize, that treating people like that is wrong, and that people in charge can still make mistakes.
These are people. And at some point theyāre going to be adult people and doing all the adult things. As an adult person, you are responsible for making sure theyāre able to do the adult things.
And even if you never have kids, you should still understand that they have to learn and that they havenāt yet. That kid from the table over may be loud, but they havenāt been taught inside voice yet. It may be annoying, but you give grace. The same way you do a new employee or intern. The same way you do when you start dating someone and youāre both getting to know each other and what drives you both mad. It takes time, and you need to be patient.
Now, I do think some places should be child free. But not because theyāre annoying, but because those places arenāt made for them. Think bars, night clubs, construction sites. You know, things that could put them in danger. Banning kids from restaurants or parks is stupid.
Just to add to this for fun: my dadās been having me watch dead zone and in like the first episode theyāre making references that he (the main character) doesnāt get. It threw me off a bit because I canāt imagine a world where Shania Twain and Tiger Woods are not well known.
so metropolitan museum of art has a register of books theyāve published that are out of print and that you can download for free! theyāre mostly books on art, archeology, architecture, fashion and history and i just think thatās super useful and interesting so i wanted to share! you can find all of the books available here!
Do you have too many things to do and mental health issues that make it hard to do them? Let me introduce you to my new well working (so far, itās day 9) way of doing things. I call it the roll for activity schedule.
How it works is: you create a schedule (I know, but as someone whoās tried creating schedules for themselves and failed, I did it without the key ingredients which Iāll go over in this post). In said schedule you have a time when you roll a die to see what activity you do for the scheduled time.
Now, Iām a college student on summer break, so I have more time than someone working does (which means more time for guilt over not doing things, hurray), but you can add in things like your work hours into the schedule.
My schedule is as follows:
Wake up 8-9:30
9:30-11:30 roll for activity A
11:30-12:30 lunch
12:30-2:30 break
2:30-4:30 roll for activity B
4:30-5:30 break
5:30-8:00 dinner
8:00-10:00 break
10:00 bedtime
If you notice, there are scheduled breaks. These are very important! Even if itās doing something you like, you need to make sure theyāre there cause otherwise youāll burn out. Also, remember to include meals cause if youāre like me, you forget to eat when engrossed in activities.
Youāll also notice my dinner is a large time period. This is because Iām home for the summer and do not determine when I eat dinner since my dad cooks. You donāt need a huge chunk of time for that if you control what you eat, just enough time to cook, eat, and then maybe do dishes (depending on your circumstances and how you feel).
Now, the roll for activity spots are the special part to this. What you want to do is take all the things you want to do and assign a number to them. Make sure that number is even, because weāre using dice. Then, youāll roll the dice at the beginning of the time and do the activity for that time period.
So this is where it gets a bit more complicated/personal. I split my options into two different groups, hence A vs B. I also created sub sections. So, for example, if I roll a 3 during activity B, I do traditional art. But I made it so thereās a second dice roll for that which has more specific things for me to do. You can also have fun and make charts, which I did and included some here.
Now, if you have an uneven amount of activities, donāt worry! You can add a reroll or a dealerās choice. I included a do activity A in mine (meaning I either do whatever I rolled for A or I roll for activities from A). You can add whatever as long as it isnāt stuff like scrolling or stuff that keeps you in bed.

There was a trend in the 40s and 50s (not sure if it predates that or if there are places that still do it) where you could get your childās baby shoes cast in bronze or dipped in bronze and use them as keepsakes or have them mounted as bookends. Better than the resin slop of the modern day in my opinion. My great grandma had my grandpaās baby shoes made into bookends ends because she loved him very much and he was her only child and it is honestly really cute. My mom got her dadās baby shoe bookends when she moved out and they were in my living room my entire childhood, she had explained how they were grandpaās shoes covered in bronze and I thought that was cool.
Then I went to an art museum and saw bronze busts of people and my tiny child brain thought the personās dismembered head and shoulders were in thereā¦
This is a little off topic, but things like this (the bronze statues, not you thinking peopleās heads were cast in bronze), are something I think are very human. Iām of the personal belief that people are people because of our urges to create and be remembered. And due to this, I also believe that we need to preserve these practices. Our want for creation, remembrance, exploration, are all wantās intrinsic to us and nothing would fit more than us pushing these skills (casting, book binding, tapestry, weaving, etc) to the future.
As technology advanced, we (first world countries for sure) have lost a lot of those skills or theyāve become very rare. Mostly because a lot of stuff is digital (for example, my sister is getting her school schedule online only unless she goes to the office on her first day and requests it printed. Which like, ew and what the hell since they banned phones?). But I think we would start changing for the better if those non digital skills were brought back widespread. I donāt think technology needs to disappear, as I think it also does good, but I think a balance is necessary. I think it will give us more appreciation for things, bring back our focus, give us more senses of accomplishment, and plenty of other things. I think having them in community centers and people traveling to the smaller towns to teach it would be good. Hell, Iād say to put them as required electives in schools (not every skill, but you have to pick at least one). I think combining technology and these real world skills would truly do us a lot of good.

So apparently, over the summer, Quibi (the shortest-lasting streaming service ever lmao) did a quarantine project called āHome Movie: The Princess Brideā where a bunch of celebrities recreated The Princess Bride in tiny chunks at home.
And like there was no permanent cast, all these celebrities seem to have gotten a scene or part of a scene to do (iām not sure exactly, I did not ever watch Quibi and thus havenāt seen this yet), and then they just⦠recreated it as best they could. At home. Under quarantine.
So like, you had Jennifer Garner in a blanket cape playing Princess Buttercup AND the Booing Old Woman with a crowd comprised entirely of stuffed animals:
Or Taika Waititi paying Westley off a badly-drawn Inigo on a piece of cardboard held in front of someoneās face:
And itās all just delightful.
But my absolute favorite part of this thing that Iāve sadly never seen but assume is probably absolutely hilarious and a treasure and I want to find it some day and watch the whole thing⦠is that Carey Elwes is in it.
In case you need a comfort watch and because Youtube search nowadays sucks rancid farts, I remind you of the Princess Bride Home Movie from the lockdown, starring everybody
So Iām reading this book (kinda, itās my plane book. I donāt fly a lot, but more so than your average person, hence, plane book), and Iām looking for spoilers on some stuff (which I didnāt find). I find a review page, with a lot of comments talking about how it makes white people the oppressed and black people the oppressors. Did we all read the same book? They were all Asian? Different Asian cultures as inspirations for the different races. But theyāre still Asian. They literally use Kintsugi, which is Japanese. I mean they donāt call it that, but itās the same idea (broken pottery filled with some type of metal).
I think Lassie fell in love with Shawn in scary sherry with the fortune cookie, but that does not explain the besotted look he gave Shawn during game set murder.

Headcanon on who I think the other core 4ās parents are:
Evie: I think that the evil queen wouldāve gone for aesthetics. Like she absolutely cares about power, however, I think her need for beauty, especially in her children, takes precedence. So I think sheās another of Gastonās kids, just the evil queen is of higher ārankā so sheās with her instead.
Carlos: Either Jasper or Horace. I donāt think anyone else would want to stay in her place long enough to actually make a baby. Like sheās a known crazy lady, I highly doubt like Hans or Facilier is coming over for a drink let alone sex.
Jay: Hardest one, simply because Jafar has a thing about status so I donāt think itās a low rank villain or some random person who got shoved in with the rest of the villains. However, think of the high ranking women villains. Itās not Maleficent or Evil Queen. (Maleficent would absolutely keep Jay to be another lackey/ chance of getting the wand and she needs to be in control which wouldnāt happen completely if Jay grew up with Jafar, and the Evil Queen would not want her son looking unpresentable, even if she canāt mini-me him, him stealing things rather than looking of high class would be an embarrassment to her). Looking through the list, thereās really only one option, and thatās the Queen of Hearts. Sheās high ranking, I donāt think sheād want the baby, and shouldāve (fucking D4/D5, ruining everything. Donāt even get me started on the fucking time travel thing) been on the isle. So ignoring their wonderland didnāt get messed with thing from D4/D5, I think thatās the most likely candidate for Jayās mom. The next option would be Drizella, cause while sheās not as high of rank, I believe sheād be the next highest on the isle.
I'm pulling this theory straight out of my bum, but could Tetia and Qifrey be related?
We know little to nothing about Tetia, and Qifrey was also mostly mysterious until recently. What if the author hasn't revealed Tetia's backstory because it is in some ways intertwined with Qifrey's? Perhaps Qifrey's story had to be told first for Tetia's to make sense.
This doesn't automatically mean that they have to be family. But it would be interesting.
They could be siblings. Or cousins. Or uncle and niece.
Maybe Qifrey did manage to find out more about his past, and that led him to Tetia. He decided to take her in as an apprentice as a form of protecting her from the brimhats and getting more information. Similarly to how he did with Coco.
Could Tetia also be a silverwood host? If yes, have her memories been erased to keep the tree at bay?
Was she the subject of forbidden magic 4 years ago when it was last publicly (?) used before Coco did it again?
I figured she was an experiment (not tree related necessarily), hence why memories are so important to her, as theyād be erased like Qifreyās were. This is also why she became his apprentice since so far we have: Agott who joined because she failed her parents/cheated, Richeh whose last master sucked, and Coco who had the whole mom is a crystal now thing. It seems weird that Tetia would be the only normal situation apprentice, so her being related to the brimmed hats would make more sense as to why Qifrey took her. I think the best bet is her being related to the forbidden magic thing, though her being related to it is not as publicly known as Cocoās own incident is.
