Oh. Kind of an anti-climax there.

But wait. What’s this?

A new plan, eh?

No, it couldn’t be!

She’s using an anonymous account to incite the wrath of Terrifying Zoerumi, in hopes that they will fall into her trap (her arms) again!

Indeed, my friend, it seems like our (former) villain might not realize just how powerful Terrifying Zoerumi is.

And clearly, she was unprepared.

Ah, but she wins in the end anyways. How exactly did it go, though?

there isn't too much that changed, honestly. The general idea stayed the same. The point of this redesign was mostly to fix certain features that weren't clear enough or features that straight up annoyed me. For example, his face didn't really look Asian, or as Asian as I wanted him to look. It was originally kind of a point for him to be white passing but at the same time he's mildly based off of me so.. It doesn't show well if he just looks like a white man with a mild tan. His eyebrows are also a little thicker. Not noticeably but enough to make me happy And ofc the rabid blown out pupils were a must As shown in the notes, the rat tail was annoying me. I also decided to make it more clear she isn't a natural blonde, via frying her hair and adding some uneven splotches, not unlike my hair before I colored it </3 Atleast she has the courtesy to keep up with her roots though. sigh I also unfortunately put heels on the shoes. Originally the heeless shoes were supposed to mimic the way cat hind legs look as I wanted them to look a little feline-ish. But that didn't translate in any other part of the design, plus it just got annoying to draw to the point I would constantly remove the shoes or try my best to cut their legs out of the art. but ofc I did have to keep the gloves and shoes. The bright cherry red latex that probably makes the most annoying squeaky stretchy noise and pinches your skin till its all hickeys and bruises... They're too iconic I can't remove them now. I changed the makeup a bit as well. I might muss up the eyeshadow a bit, make it a little less symmetrical but I think the idea of Kayne manually applying makeup and making sure its symmetrical so he can go torment a dude he's into, a dude who ain't even gonna see it, is kinda funny. But clean makeup is too similar to the way I see the Manager. so who knows. I did also make his skin a little darker, just a boost of melanin. I might try to insert the face arc back in some day but maybe not. maybe yes maybe not. I love facial arcs on characters, it makes the design really nice, but it doesn't particularly fit on human characters imo, especially considering tidbits of lore I have for Kayne's physical body. Not important though. I also changed the Jabot and suit ! The jabot needed to change because the old design is just. not how they work. and it became annoying to draw because I didn't know wtf I was even looking at. Gave her bell-bottoms. Not super flared but bell bottoms are cool as shit. The coat is more reminiscent of conductors as it was meant to be originally. I removed the gold trims because as much as I liked them it felt too busy. I might slip the trim back in but that's a much less sure maybe than the facial arc. I don't really like the trim, don't really like drawing it. It's cool but kinda eh on the design overall. Looked too expensive. Ofc had to keep the unnessacarily long tailcoat. I don't use design elements to their full potential but I want to state it here that they do in fact move like tails/tentacles. However I'm lazy, constantly draw Kayne limited to a bust/half-body and or make her strip the coat for no apparent reason, so I don't get to have fun with it </3 I like making Kayne look a bit neat and pretty so that when I imagine how they look in the finale, all disheveled, torn apart and manic, it hits a lil harder. And ofc I imagine them looking like a sticky mess the first time we meet them heheheh

I think overall I made them look a lot less flashy, which might take away from the appeal of the design, but it didn't feel like something that felt like it was apart of Malevolent, yknow ? It was easy for me to imagine this before. I went through multiple Kayne scenes and could imagine this freak of a god in shiny shoes, but after going back and relistening a little, it just felt weird. Hopefully it isn't drastic enough that the new design is uninteresting. Quite a number of people told me I made one of their favorite Kayne designs, and honestly that's one of the reasons I stalled a redesign. I didn't want to take away or change something so many people enjoyed. The changes felt needed though. It didn't match my vision. and last of all, it's probably already clear but yeah my art style is having a bit of an adjustment. Drawing noses started getting annoying and I wanna change my rendering a little. This isn't rendered at all aside from light shading but you get the idea. I'm using different brushes as well.
