If he had refused the offer, that would've been very out of character for him.

Think of it like this: You're disabled and can barely do this thing you're really passionate about. You struggle 10 times more than the average person, and most of the people around you tell you that there is no way to make this thing you're into more accessible. You're angry because the adults refuse to even look for ways to help you since it's illegal for some reason. Why is it illegal? Why is no one explaining it in more depth other than 'forbidden magic bad'?

Why wouldn't you turn to the only group of people who claim to have a way of helping you? You barely even know anything about these people. Are they really as bad as everyone says?

Can we, as the readers, even consider the brimcaps the bad guys? Despite their mysterious and creepy nature, they do have a point when it comes to making magic more accessible, even if it is some sort of manipulation tactic.

The pointycaps aren't that innocent either. Especially in Tartah's case. From his perspective, they are definitely way more suspicious than the brimcaps. Both groups are morally grey if anything.

And let's also note all the foreshadowing. From the moment we meet Tartah, up until the moment he joins the brims, we see that he's very frustrated with the system that the pointyhats have created. He constantly questions things. It is only natural that he turns to the other side when he gets no answers.

I also see many people point out that Tartah is a child and that he doesn't really understand what he's doing. I'm not a big fan of this take since I really doubt that he would've done things differently if he were an adult. Joining the brims wasn't some tantrum to prove people wrong, but a decision he made in search of the truth.

For example, at the start, we learn that Agott usually eats in her room and refuses to sit down at the table with everyone else.

This hasn't been brought up again, or at least not as far as I can remember.

BUT, if you've read Kitchen, you'll notice that Agott did start joining the others. We, as readers, don't know when it happened. And no character comments on it. But the fact stays that at some point, she got comfortable enough to join everyone.

It's literally implied that the other kids teased them by calling them a couple when they switched their hat accessories.

Furthermore, Olruggio seems pretty frustrated that nothing ever came out of him and Qifrey because the teasing made things awkward between them.

And don't even get me started on how their relationship is often compared to a ROMANTIC love story through symbolism.

We know little to nothing about Tetia, and Qifrey was also mostly mysterious until recently. What if the author hasn't revealed Tetia's backstory because it is in some ways intertwined with Qifrey's? Perhaps Qifrey's story had to be told first for Tetia's to make sense.

This doesn't automatically mean that they have to be family. But it would be interesting.

They could be siblings. Or cousins. Or uncle and niece.

Maybe Qifrey did manage to find out more about his past, and that led him to Tetia. He decided to take her in as an apprentice as a form of protecting her from the brimhats and getting more information. Similarly to how he did with Coco.

Could Tetia also be a silverwood host? If yes, have her memories been erased to keep the tree at bay?

I was looking at Euini's design and realised that he had a skirt rather than flowy pants. I thought it was pretty cool and wondered if he was the only guy with one. He wasn't. In fact, everyone with flowy pants is actually wearing a skirt.

Why did I even think that those were pants??? Sure, some panels show a slit down the middle, but the same slit is also present when it comes to dresses.

I totally get why somebody would call him either of those things. He checks a lot of boxes when it comes to the stereotypical traditional woman, despite being a man. However, as funny as it is, it does feel misogynistic.

Why can't we just accept that a man likes cooking and taking care of kids without calling him a woman? Why must some things always be a woman's job?

I originally assumed that it was a fashion thing, but now I'm not so sure about that. His hat having a fold that hides a memory spell makes me believe that the rest of his outfit might also be related to the tree in some way. The white part could be a form of extra coverage. A way to stop people from seeing the roots.

However, I'm not so sure about this theory since the white part only really covers his stomach and lower back, and it wouldn't really make much sense for the tree to travel all the way down there. Especially since we've seen it pop out of his shoulder. Why would it go lower? Maybe the fabric of the black shirt isn't as strong in those areas. I don't know.

It could just be a way of showing that Olruggio is happy being the watchful eye and doing his own thing, but what if there is more to it?

If Qifrey does end up turning into a tree, or dying, or disappearing, or if pretty much anything happens to him, it would make the most sense for Olruggio to become the girls' new teacher after taking the 5th test.

However, I do believe that it would be a temporary thing if something bad does happen to Qifrey. I personally find the idea of Qifrey dying a bit disappointing after everything he's been through, so if anything, the most likely 'bad' thing that could happen would be him treeing out.

An arc where Olruggio takes over while trying to find a way to turn Qifrey back into a human sounds very interesting. It's also about time that we get more of his perspective.
