Get yourself a fan to blow over you so the sweat will cool you down. Add more salt to your diet to make up for what's lost when you sweat.

Drink cold fluids to cool down, but if you start getting dizzy or feeling especially thirsty, drink something closer to body temperature. Your body will absorb is more swiftly. Put ice packs, frozen peas, or something similar behind your knees, between your legs, the back of your neck, and armpits. Those have the thinnest skin and will cool you down faster. When we had no a/c and the heat index was 120 F, I put frozen washcloths on my neck, a fan behind me, and it likely saved my life.

Many meds will make you more sensitive to heat and sunlight. On that list are ADHD meds, hormonal contraception, some seizure meds, mood stabilizers, and antihistamines. Not all meds have those listed as side-effects, so look your meds up to see.

Friends, I had not received a jury summons for this month. Which I told him, at which point his previously clear diction suddenly turned into a rapid mumble, only becoming clear for scary words like 'federal' and then asking to confirm my address, at which point I hung up and decided to call the police department later.

When I called the police department the desk officer sounded so tired y'all. All I had to say was "Hey I got a call earlier saying I missed jury duty this morning?" and she immediately sighed and told me that yes it was a scam that was going around and thanked me for calling to confirm.

So this is your periodic reminder that law enforcement agencies will not call you to tell you that you're in trouble. If you need to pay a fine of some sort they will mail you a physical invoice. Anyone calling you saying they're from the police or any other law enforcement organization (up to the CIA and yes I have heard of scammers attempting to impersonate CIA agents over the phone) who then tries to get financial information from you over the phone is a scammer.

For ANY "important" call you actually think might be real, get the name of the agency or institution involved, (and here is the important part:) look up the phone number to that agency or institution on your own, and call back about it.

If you never use a phone number they give you and always look up the number on your own, they can never scam you. Here's how it looks.

"hi, i'm from your bank and your account has just been charged, just, so much money, we're worried it might be fraud."

"Thank you for letting me know, I'll call back later, goodbye"

Then i look up my bank's phone number, and call that number, and tell them i received a call about suspicious activity on my account.

If it's real, they'll help me with it, and if it's not they'll confirm it's not true. Either way, i know i'm talking to the actual bank and not a scammer.

So the reason that people in Amsterdam were organizing these assaults on WhatsApp and Telegram groups, starting on Wednesday night, was because some of the Maccabi fans made noise during the minute of silence at the Thursday game.

And the reason protesters yelled "kanker Juden" (literally "cancer Jews," a particularly vile Dutch way to say "fucking Jews"), while setting this empty tram on fire and smashing its windows, on Monday, was that some Israeli football fans didn't observe the moment of silence for Valencia flood victims.

I guess the tram didn't either.

And the reason that someone destroyed this "street library" of Hebrew books, in Amsterdam, two days after that, was that some of the Maccabi fans didn't respect the minute of silence.

Definitely, the people in Belgium who started calling for a "Jew hunt" on game night must have done it in solidarity with the flood victims of Valencia.

And the ones that did manage to attack a guy in the Jewish Quarter of Antwerp, on "Jew Hunt" night (Sunday), while yelling "free Palestine" obviously did it because some Israeli fans in the Netherlands had made too much noise during the minute of silence three days earlier.

Lastly, I am likewise certain that the Jewish youth team TuS Makkabi, in Berlin, Germany, played against a team that spat on one of them, chanted "Free Palestine" and "Fucking Jews" during the game... and then were chased by jackasses with knives on the way home... solely because the Maccabi fans playing later that evening didn't respect the moment of silence for Valencia flood victims.

Truly, the near-universal concern for people who died in the flood is off the fucking charts.
