tcok prologue is kind of funny when you spent too much time engaging with pre-canon characters. cressen spends like 20 pages freaking out about the comet saying things like "unprecedented" and "surely we will never see that sort of comet again in our lifetimes" and "im a maester and dont believe in omens but that shit sure is spooky" while living in the former house of the known comet noticer rhaegar targaryen. it's a good thing targaryens are cremated because he'd be turning in his grave. all over westeros people are seeing the comet and going "hmmm. i will proceed to interpret this in a way that i like" yet he was doing it like 15 years early and nobody ever gives him any credit for it. as per usual. also baratheons are living in his house and complaining how much it sucks, i think that'd bother him too. "i can't reach the support of any major house from here and my bannermen suck and this is really hashing my vibes and keeping me from fratricide" you don't say. i know someone who had the exact same problems in life. ive greatly lost sight of the narrative here
