Every time it storms

This comes back to me

Of this true event

From my work history

In a corporation

I worked for a boss

Who stepped over the line

And made me really cross

I had to commute

To the office to work

Even though

I could do it remote

There was a blizzard

That buried my car

When there’s a storm

You can’t get far

In the morning

I tried my best

To clear the snow

And start the gas

I was not able

To leave the driveway

It made no sense

To hit the highway

I feared the roads

And for my safety

To travel that day

Was nothing but crazy

I called the office

Left a message

Called again

Feeling helpless

I voiced my concern

To my leader

My car was stuck

Along with neighbours

I offered apology

Said I’d work from home

Where I would be safe

To work through the storm

What he said next

Felt like an attack

Words of a bully

Hit you like that

No care for my

Health or wellbeing

Said that won’t do

Take a vacation

As part of management

You are a team leader

The part that made me

Feel so mistreated

I was more

And made to feel

This was the start

Of my divorce

From the boss

With corporate force

If I was not

A single mother

Would this spoiled man

Have treated me better?

The career I worked for

To help other people

Was more than a job

I thought I was equal

Bad boss decisions

They toy with your needs
