The Japanese royal family has only one child, Princess Aiko. Currently the law states that only men can inherit the throne. As you can see this is a bit of a conundrum.

There's a very simple solution. Change the law and make Princess Aiko empress. It doesn't take a lot of digging to see that she's adored by the Japanese people. The majority wants her as empress. A bill was introduced to allow women to succeed but was rejected in the cabinet.

The leading part, LDP, has a much ¨better¨ idea. The royal family should adopt a son and make him emperor. Furthermore the deliberation of this bill won't be broadcasted live.

This has become a matter of gender equality, respecting the citizen's opinions, the leading party's abuse of power and the human rights of the royal family. Politician and ancient dust of a human Hirofumi Nakasone made heinous remarks about Princess Aiko. One being that ¨no one wants to marry her¨.

It's an insane level of conservatism. Such disdain towards women and being obsessed with power. Some tweets have called it a coup d'état. Emperor Naruhito himself made a statement, as direct as he could, which isn't super direct.
