Nursing and the things I love

Here's another unpopular opinion.

Student's should work the rota that's given to them.

"Can't do that day, I don't have childcare"

"Can't work that shift, blah blah shit excuse"

You can't say you want to be treated like a nurse, get paid to do placements and then demand you have every Sunday off.

When you're qualified you won't be able to just pick and choose the days you work so why now?

Dear student nurses,

Firstly, welcome to nursing life.

Secondly, quit your fucking moaning.

I've just read a blog post about a student nurse who is also a mum of 2. Fan-bloody-tastic.

In this post, she is stating how she is "working for free" for the NHS because she started this year and didn't get a bursary and had to take out a loan.

Bitch you are not "working for free", you're training. You have barely any skills, you're a first year. You shouldn't be getting paid you have no damn experience. How does this student feel so bloody entitled?

Yes I came through nursing on a bursary but that doesn't mean anything. It basically covered my rent at student accommodation and that's it.

I still had to take out a student loan to cover other expenses!!

The nursing programme is for students to learn how to work as a nurse and is 50% theory and 50% practical. You know this at the start and you agree to it. You cannot be slagging off parliament for cutting the bursary when they are trying to save money for areas of the NHS that bloody need it!!

I know we need more nurses ofc I do. And only the most dedicated will now pay to do it so I dont have to fail as many shit nursing students as I used to.

Jazzed up my stethoscope because it was looking a little dated. Used little plastic spiral cords to maintain it’s wipe-ability for infection control purposes.

Well... what a lot of people who are in uproar about the misleading of the pay deal.

No, actually, there was more than enough information for people out there, read between the lines. 

So many staff didn’t even vote for the pay deal when they had the chance and now it’s mostly those who are in uproar. The ones that rejected the deal knew this was coming and have accepted our fate. I knew it wasn’t the best deal we could get but hey anything is better than nothing.

Though this is still a really low ball. I, personally, have received a pay rise of 25p an hour BEFORE tax. So after tax it’s 20p an hour. In total, around £42 a month which is not that bad. And on my 6 month increment date I should get another little raise. Again it’s not going to be life changing money but I’m not one of those struggling to get by. 

I understand people feel misled by the media, their unions (esp RCN who urged us to accept, damn fools). But people should take some ownership. You should have done some research.
