The new Mando and Grogu movie may have reignited my old cringy Mandalorian hyperfixation from 2020 aghhh

With my dissociation, it’s not as simple as just ‘forgetting’ where I am.

For me, I’ve only ever had one episode in which I have genuinely forgotten where I am and did the whole looking around, ‘where tf am I’ kind of thing.

But normally, I don’t ‘forget’ where I am. Dissociation has opened in my head a separate dimension and plane of existence in which I go when I dissociate, so I see the physical, material world as its own reality, and then there’s the void where my brain deposits me when I dissociate.

It’s less ‘forgetting’ and more that I’m not present enough to register my surroundings and fully live in and experience the material reality in a given moment. I’ve had foggy thoughts of ‘I’m not quite sure where I am’ while/coming out of dissociation, but there are also additional layers of my memories and sense of time being skewed, and things that I’ve done that day or material things I’m presently engaging with get foggy and get mixed with the void in which I’m not 100% sure if it’s real or not.

I don’t mean to make it all supernatural-sounding, but that’s how I organize my experiences in my head. I go somewhere else when I dissociate, and I’ve lived there long enough to know how I would describe it.

Damn dissociation is crazy because one minute I’ll be wondering what a door is and not understanding the concept of time and the next minute I’ll blink and realize my brain was all static for long enough that the people in front of me are now in an entirely different conversation that I didn’t hear the beginning of

I’ve been asked how it’s different from just zoning out and that question is really overwhelming for me because how the hell do I explain that I literally feel my thoughts slowing down and I can feel my mind stepping back into the void. It’s not ‘just zoning out’ my brain just puts me on pause

As this pride month comes to a close, I want to highlight all the good stuff that happened to me during it. I prefer to keep my personal life offline, but I've had a very-up-and-down month. Let's cheer for the 'ups' I had as a closeted and pre-transition trans masc.

I partook in axe throwing at a local Renaissance Fair, and got called 'he'

I got cookies from a nearby place I asked if I could link my account to my in-person purchase (I usually use the app which does it automatically). Another employee came up to help and called me "he" before switching and sticking to "they". So I definitely have the ability to confuse people (using specific accessories).

I have been experimenting with wearing t shirts again now that I have a binder. I have been leaving the house without a hoodie or jacket.

A huge win has been me coming out at work. It's a small place, I only have three coworkers. They've been insanely kind and supportive. I am not taking any social transition steps for a while but I have felt more like myself at work.

I purchased trans tape. :D

I bit the bullet and purchased a pack of Super Mario boxers and a pack of plain boxers. Putting them on clicked in my brain immediately and I did not want to go back. I also got Super Mario themed socks. Which isn’t gender affirming but it was nice.

I have tried out my trans tape! It took three attempts to get an acceptable result, and I’m confident I’ll get better. It’s been strange not having anything resembling a bra on, considering I usually have something on from the moment I roll out of bed to right before I climb in, but the tape keeps things really secure so I’ve been enjoying that feeling. It has transformed going up and down stairs. As of writing this, it has been one day with trans tape.

I have done one of the scariest things a trans person can do— use the bathroom matching my gender identity. And I did it on accident. It was a small restaurant. I went through a door labeled ‘restrooms’, saw two more doors, and assumed they were those little personal rooms. My eyesight naturally rests lower. My first clue should’ve been the urinal and the fact that the main door didn’t lock, but I laughed in my head and thought “inclusive bathroom nice!” while assuming that because it had a stall the main door didn’t need a lock. It was only when I walked out and noticed the other door said ‘women’, and I turned around and it just said ‘men’. I had a good quiet laugh. My stupidity for once paid off spectacularly.

I’ve been living with trans tape for two and a half days. It has been really comfortable to live in and I really hope I’ll be able to get a good flattening result some day. I will be sad to take it off.

We also celebrate a year, as of June 26th, since the very first time I ever got gendered correctly-- when I got called "sir" while being let on a ferris wheel.

Look. Pushing authors for new chapters and to update quickly is obviously wrong. But saying harmless stuff like "So excited for the next chapter!", "Hello author, I noticed that you haven’t been updating in 2 years, are you doing alright :( ?" are such non-issues?

I'm sorry but where on earth can anyone see anything pushy and demanding about these phrases? They're just expressing their eagerness?? It's so obviously a compliment? You could even ask them to specify if it is or not, if you're confused.

And the second is just expressing concern? Asking simple questions?? Not a hint of anything offensive nor demanding in sight???

How about everyone just stops taking everything like a personal attack? At this point, if you have little to no comments and you're upset about it, you have no one but yourself to blame. You can't just act so scathingly and controllingly and expect constant politeness, praise and gentleness. Sometimes, people calling the readers entitled are just projecting.

Literallyyyyy like I had someone comment on one of my fics one time and alongside complimenting the fic they mentioned that they’d noticed I hadn’t posted a fic in months when before it had been consistently a fic or two per month, so they were checking to see if I was okay. That comment was so fucking sweet and I still remember it so well because due to a severe downturn in my depression/ptsd, I hadn’t posted at all, and someone noticed. So that was a really good time to get that little check in.

Expressing concern or excitement is very rarely a bad thing

Ren: (he/him) gay trans man 🏳️‍⚧️

Ryuji: (he/him) bisexual with a preference towards guys 💙💜🩷 it took him FOREVER to realize his sexuality, and Ren was his gay awakening. Even in a relationship with Ren, he still uses really casual 'bro' nicknames, but will call him babe when he's really worried.

Ann: (she/her) lesbian 🫡 definitely had/has a crush on Shiho

Morgana: (he/him/not a cat) straight (he was created in the Velvet Room and IDK if Igor was thinking about sexuality when he made him lol)

Yusuke: (he/they/fae) aroace, transmasc genderqueer. I think Yusuke loves the IDEA of a relationship, and he always wants a lovely concept to paint, but I feel like if it came down to it, he really wouldn't be interested in romance. He also gives me huge genderqueer/non-binary vibes with a dash of transmasc in there. He doesn't mind people referring to him as a guy/man/boy, but with people he's close with, he requests for them to switch up their pronouns occasionally or just refer to him without gender sometimes (one time he described himself as a spiritual being) Also Yusuke is so ethereal and magical, I feel like he would learn of neo pronouns, go on a two minute passionate ramble about the aesthetic, then start additionally going by fae/faer pronouns immediately

Makoto: (she/her) bisexual, didn’t get into her first queer wlw relationship until her first year of college because she was so focused on her direction in life that she didn't even consider romance.

Futaba: (she/her) straight, but is obsessed with others' relationships, will often poke in and out of Ren and Ryuji's flirty text conversations, and she constantly makes them (and the others) tell her wholesome stories relating to their sexualities/identities/relationships. She loves Ren like a brother and viciously celebrates Pride with them all.

Haru: (she/they) non-binary/unlabeled asexual lesbian. The question “what gender are you” is met with a nonchalant shrug, and eventually she and Makoto got into a relationship (I read a fic where the two of them were together and I will never think anything else now)

Mishima: (he/him) demisexual and bi (idk I can see him with a guy and also ace rep for the winnn)

Akechi: (any pronouns) he gives me massive pansexual vibes for some reason. He’ll kiss anybody as long as he likes them as a person, it doesn’t matter what gender they are as long as they’re pretty and kind.

this and also the only difference between fanfic writers and writers who sell their own original works as careers is that fanfics aren’t monetized. that’s all.

being a “professional” writer doesn’t mean your works are inherently better than fanfics. I’ve read so many fics that are more professionally written than some published books.

whether or not a piece of writing is monetized has nothing to do with its quality.

Honestly I reread my fics all the time- often times I write stuff that I want to see more of, or if there’s just nothing quite that I want in a tag, I’ll write what I wanted to find.

I also play a little game with myself that whenever I get a nice comment on a fic, I reread the fic with a new appreciation and try to imagine what the commenter felt reading it for the first time 💜
