How The Spiderverse Films Can Easily Be Read As A Queer Allegory:
Very heavy themes throughout the first film of "ANYONE could be behind this mask"
Spiderman is treated like a source of debate among people rather than an actual person, especially by a right-wing podcaster who constantly points out the flaws he has (which more-often-than-not are fictional scenarios used to push a narrative)
"It's just puberty" - Miles after noticing his spider-powers first emerge
After Miles realises he's Spider-Man 2 and witnesses Peter Parker murdered for being Spider-Man, he asks his father who has constantly talked about his disdain for Spider-Man if he "REALLY hates him" which is a conversation so many closeted queer children have every day
The other Spider's ability to sense each other is Gaydar
The scene where the other Spiders tell Miles about everyone they've lost while being Spiderman could easily be read as an allegory for how almost every queer person has lost at least 1 person close to them because of homophobia
"When will I KNOW I'm Spiderman?" "You won't. That's all it is Miles, a leap of faith." Might be stretching a little here but this could be seen as how people who are afraid to start transitioning learn to get over their fear. Sure, you'll never know for SURE if you'll regret it, but you can't let that fear stop you from being who you are.
A rich billionaire pretends to be fond of Spider-Man in public to look good but in private he was the one who killed him to benefit himself
The scene where Gwen's dad realises she's Spiderwoman is VERY reminiscent of a queer child being discovered by their homophobic parent which hits even harder since it's heavily implied that Gwen is a trans woman
Miles' conflict of trying to come out to his family as Spider-Man can so EASILY be seen as an allegory for a queer person trying to come out that I 100% believe it was intentional (I mean hell, the scene where Miles is like "oh yeah they'd totally just go "WE LOVE AND ACCEPT YOU EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE BEEN LYING TO US FOR A YEAR"" is pretty much what kept me from coming out for as long as I did. Not the scene itself no I mean like I had the same thought process Miles had)
The spider-society could easily be seen as an allegory for the queer community, and Miles being seen as the "original anomaly" who "doesn't belong here" could be read as how loads of queer people with certain identities are excluded from the community by gatekeepers
