I rediscovered my old art and her heroforge of my wife’s ttrpg character. 💙 She played as a Paladin, then most recently as a Scoundrel in Thirsty Sword Lesbians, both elves, both lovers of good food, good vibes, and kind to robots, raccoons and dragons alike. I love how she puts herself into her characters. I think the last playbook she considered was the Sun Hand which also goes really well with cooking / baking!
Every time I go out to visit the midwest or mountain west I'm baffled as to how anyone lives in these gigantic flat plains or giant bowl valleys between mountains with no trees to speak of. It's nature's panopticon. You can go inside I guess but that roof can't hide you from God like the woods can. It's gorgeous of course but I'm going back to Mirkwood where I can think my wicked little thoughts in peace, thank you very much.
i feel the same except the complete opposite. the mountains are nice to visit but how does anyone live there? you don’t know what’s hiding in there. peace is endless flat plains, nothing but you and the angel you’re struggling with.
fascinating! enjoy the type of horror that feels like home to you and I will do the same xoxo
Idea: a Powered By The Apocalypse horror game where the playbooks are all based on different terrains! The Plains-Dweller, The Mountaineer, The Coaster, The Deserted, The Tree-Speaker etc.
Your characters all imply the existence of different kinds of entities or forces in the setting: if anyone plays the Mountaineer, there are cryptids and stealthy hunters. If anyone plays the Deserted, there are aliens and spacetime anomalies. However, you also have skills and powers to help deal with the horrors that are out there!
I see this either as a traveling campaign or a situation where everyone has moved to a big city. What do you think? In either case, you must investigate the supernatural or sinister events that you encounter, bringing your distinctive viewpoints to solve problems (or just survive).
Dimension 20: City Council of Darkness (2026) Episode 14: An Undead Denouement
Some NPCs from my Urban Shadows game, see the PCs here. Just been painting up a storm for this campaign. No one probably cares but having lots of fun exerting my free will making fanart for my home ttrpg games.

TTRPG Character Creation Challenge 2026
During the month of May, I'll make each day a character for different games I like.

Shamash - Defy the Gods

This is a ttrpg game jam running from the beginning of July through the end of August, for disabled game designers! If you (like me) are disabled and want to try finishing a game in that window, sign up; if not, please share to spread the word and support the creators taking part.
I made a thing :3
You were a dreadful, sacred guardian. Regain your lost power, and this time, only your own heart will command it.
Here's Vijaya, a character I played in an experimental, GMless Thirsty Sword Lesbians campaign! He's a teenager who got fused with an extraterrestrial, eldrich being and became... something else. He doesn't remember anything about his previous life as either a human or an alien, and is trying to find his own, new identity.
(Oh, and by the way. He's on Artfight! :>)
I've also tried messing with aseprite to create a kind of "glitch" effect.
"Glitched" version below, warning for eye strain/chromatic aberration effects!
Higgledy piggledy, turning and turning as gyres are widening, centers unheld,
things fall apart and there’s anarchy everywhere; falcons fly freely and can’t be compelled.
Dimming the tide there is blood in the water and everywhere customs of innocence drowned.
Held by the worst is a fervent intensity; lacking conviction the best run aground.
Surely there must be some kind of apocalypse; surely epiphany must be at hand!
Visions unbidden from Spiritus Mundi of something awakening out on the sand:
Head of a man with a leonine frame and a pitiless gaze that’s as blank as the sun;
sleep became nightmare by passage of centuries long before eons of slumber were done.
Higgledy piggledy, beast of antiquity, imminent, just as the prophecies warn,
shambling slowly but revelatorily, slouching towards Bethlehem, there to be born.

staring at this playbook for Defy the Gods… 😵💫😵💫😵💫 I want to try out a similar concept in Thirsty Sword Lesbians too but I feel like it won’t work as well as a direct translation.
ttrpg games are insane and make you insane in ways that are fundamental and irreparable. sometimes the best piece of fiction you will ever experience will happen to you and your friends over two to five years of your life. it will be your work and their work and yet somehow exist between and beyond you all. there will only be like three or five of you in the room and nobody else will ever be able to experience this in the way you did. it will be ephemeral and immediate and it will occasionally make you feel so bad you see hell. fuck. what a concept
I hope my chronicle feels like this to my players because it does feel like this to me :>
One of the best moments of my life was a one-shot in an obscure system with people who are no longer speaking to each other. And that fact drives me kinda nuts. Not only have I peaked, I peaked playing fucking Ah, Dang! Mothman Won't Move Out (He Said It Was Just For The Weekend).
One of the few games I have gotten to enjoy as a player instead of GM/host/guide was also Ah, Dang! Mothman Won’t Move Out (He Said It Was Just For The Weekend); also with people who are no longer speaking to each other. I mostly run games, but now I’m so strongly nostalgia for that one night where we played goofy housemates dealing a quirky Mothman and asshole landlord!
even found the old character sheet I made for the game :3
Purple is basically Spooky Witch but Red could also be XD Green reminds me of Trickster and Naga when they’re at peak Feelings or Venom!
The black pill is very Naga coded; the green one is very Devoted; purple is sort of Bloody and Spooky Witch; red could be Nature Witch or Bloody; blue could be Hologoddess or Infamous 🤔

One of the few games I have gotten to enjoy as a player instead of GM/host/guide was also Ah, Dang! I run games still, of course, but now I’m so strongly nostalgia for that one night where we played goofy housemates dealing a quirky Mothman and asshole landlord! I played a bigender ginger werewolf who worked as a waiter trying to save up for something like starting an animal rescue or veterinary training :3
The Thirsty Sword Lesbians discord ttrpg server is open for joining now that we have some mods :) I’m not a mod, just a community member. It is not an official evil hat server or anything, just GMs, players and those interested in this ttrpg system!
(also here’s some of my fave art from the first book)
