They do this so that when someone goes “hey I’m seeing a lot of pictures that are violently racist and antisemitic using pepe the frog” they can go “THESE SILLY LEFTISTS! GETTING OFFENDED OVER A CARTOON FROG! WHATS NEXT, GETTING OFFENDED THE SKY IS BLUE?” And onlookers unaware of stupid internet culture may assume that, yes, people are just offended by a cartoon frog.

Its the same shit. Terfs intentionally picked the term hygiene to use as their new dogwhistle, specifically so that the second anyone points out its a dogwhistle they can go “HAHA SO BATHING IS TRANSPHOBIC NOW? ITS TRANSPHOBIC TO BE HYGIENIC?” it is literally the same shit. It is so ppl unaware of what terfs believe and what they are become more sympathetic to them because calling them on their dogwhistles makes us look crazy.
