I used to think I had to write perfectly to bring in money and readers. It was so restricting that I burned out while writing. Then, I let go of that "commercial" desire and started simply writing what I wanted, what I liked, in my own chaotic style. I might not have many readers, I'll never earn a penny, but I'll simply be happy rereading my work, happy writing it, and happy if someone actually likes it. There's too much bad stuff in this world, and not much that brings me joy. So, I choose to be a happy writer, not a "perfect typing machine."

One of my very minor, irrational annoyances in life is the inanity of most of the reading group questions at the back of some novels. Imagine you’ve just experienced a work of art that still has you reeling from the emotional impact and then you’re hit with «why do you think [character X] did [Y], and should they be judged for it?» Because they’re insane. Because there’s something deeply and gloriously wrong with them. Judgement isn’t the point. What kind of middle school reading comprehension quiz is this? Leave the poor author alone.

I still don't know my purpose on this planet but I do love reading fanfiction.

Someone said “The slow burn of becoming yourself” and I think that might be one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. It’s such a good reminder of how much it takes, how much character development, how much change, and beauty and courage it takes to reach your soul and I hope no one ever gives up on becoming themselves because it’s a never ending journey that only gets better.
