if you know a bit about music & what mixing is (or even if you don’t, basically it’s kinda like using layers in Photoshop to determine what’s sonically the most prominent) this billboard article is SUCH an interesting explanation of why the instrumentals on Love Story sound different than the original even though it’s the same note for note, and like, how radio in 2008 created an atmosphere where everything was supposed to be super flat sounding.

I'm immediately reminded of Taylor's discography, because she has managed to carve out masterpieces by building a story around the most mundane things in the world - sitting at a restaurant, thinking you spotted someone at the bus stop when in reality you didn't, dancing in the kitchen, vending machine lights, writing and receiving letters, a specific memory attached to an outfit, cleaning up bottles with someone after a party, the list goes on - there is beauty in the ordinary, and nobody brings it out better than Taylor
