Friendly reminder that the Rogue One writers easily could’ve actually killed Cassian with that fall in the data tower and ended the film with Jyn defeating Krennic and transmitting the plans alone just as the Death Star obliterates her. Instead they wrote it so that Cassian climbs up 10+ stories with a broken back to save Jyn from her mother’s murderer and they have a whole moment in the elevator as the last survivors of the Rogue One team (probably the last two people alive in the facility) and then die together in each other’s arms on the beach; in other words, they wrote the most romantic possible ending for them. Absolutely nothing Mr. Gilroy says post-Andor will ever change or undo any of this.

so far one theme of the 30s for me has been realizing that literally every human being on earth who appears completely cool and collected and together with it at first glance has some threshold past which enough known information about them will shatter that mystique completely. i don't even say this negatively or pessimistically it's just been helpful to keep in mind that we're all like that.

I think that one of the most frustrating things about algospeak, after the "compliance in advance" self-censorship, is that there is no actual evidence-based justification for it. funniest thing to ever happen was when my boyfriend put on the first episode of columbo (which i'd never seen) but he wouldn't tell me what show it was he would only say "you'll get it when he shows up." but a fun fact about the first episode of columbo is that he doesn't show up for 32 minutes and when he does, he silently walks into the room with a cigar and does a little pose and goes "hi i'm columbo."

i could not eat a dozen fried eggs and would never want to do so. but i almost certainly could accidentally eat a dozen deviled eggs if i was at a party or perhaps a picnic and they were there. they are a highly dangerous food item in this way
