Warning, sadness ahead

This was the Shrimp tank (5 gallon Fluval) before the Great Carbon Explosion. Went to bed and it looked gorgeous, woke up to black water not achieved by tannins leaching out of wood.

Disaster. Everything was covered in charcoal from the filter. The filter that has been running perfectly for two months, no issues. AUGH!!!

This went beyond water changes. Tear down. Substrate replaced. Everything washed off. Shrimp were checking out right and left. (Cherrys first, then the Yellows, not as many Blues or Browns ... really weird.) So now ...

We are all in recovery.

We are watching everyone closely, and it looks as though we are over the worst.

Fingers crossed.
