I just love when birds get spherical
Are you still bitter about it sometimes?
yes
no
“bend over” “bend what? over”
I hate this place
so what you're gonna do is you're gonna trim the top off a bulb of garlic, using the knife's edge to take off the tip of every individual clove, that's important. you're gonna place the garlic face-up in a square of tinfoil, drizzle with olive oil, wrap completely in foil, place in baking tray, repeat with a copious amount of garlic bulbs. you're gonna put that baking tray in an oven set to 375-400°F, for 30-50 minutes, until soft and browned. you're gonna toast some good bread, slather generously with butter and honey, maybe a tiny lil bit o' salt. and then. you're gonna SQUEEZE. OUT. THAT. ROASTED GARLIC. onto the butter honey toast. and you're gonna eat it. food stolen directly from the plate of the gods. that's what you're gonna do.
the garlic. it beckons you
It occurs to me that "1920s gangster doing a cooking show while holding you at gunpoint" is an untapped market.
We've had normal cooking shows. Now we need period piece cooking shows in character.

Will Smith - Miami 1998
"Miami" is a song by American rapper and actor Will Smith from his debut solo album, Big Willie Style (1997). It samples the Whispers's 1979 single "And the Beat Goes On". Released as a single on November 23, 1998, the song charted at number 17 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number three on the UK Singles Chart. "Miami" won the Best Male Video award at the 1999 MTV Video Music Awards.
"Miami" was produced by production duo Poke and Tone along with L.E.S. The track was developed following their work on "Men in Black", Smith's single from the soundtrack to the 1997 film of the same name, during which the producers established a close professional relationship with him that carried over into his solo project. Big Willie Style was the first album to be released by Smith since 1993's Code Red, the last by the duo DJ Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince.
"Miami" received a total of 80% yes votes! Previous Will Smith polls: #273 "Summertime".
My friends and I all took a “which Jane Austen love interest would you fall for?” and I was like ooh ooh I hope I get Mr. Knightley. But also if they have Henry Tilney on there he’s super underrated and I would get his humor better than Catherine anyway so I want him too. One of my friends said she wanted Mr. Darcy and I was like eh hard pass. Everyone looked at me like I committed sacrilege and I was like look! I love him! As a character! And I think he’s great for Elizabeth! I am really super happy that Elizabeth ended up with him. And also perfectly content to not be Elizabeth because he’s just not for me. And then we took the test and I got Mr. Darcy and one of my friends said “I forgot not liking him was a prerequisite for falling in love with him” and I threw my phone at her (spiritually, not physically, bc phones are expensive)
bonus/proof:
we tipped her well dw. best waitress ever 🍒

my favorite thing paul does in interviews is when he mentions a beatles song and then starts singing it to make sure people know it, like he'll say "we were performing she loves you, you know 'she loves you yeah yeah yeah...'" like you literally don't have to do that. everyone knows that song. you are paul mccartney
My personal favorite is when he goes to tell and a story and he prefaces it with "you know, john and I- john lennon and I-" like yeah no we know that. we know who john is. you are the beatles
A German regional court has ruled that Google is directly liable for the content of its AI search overviews. According to the court, previou
Let’s fucking go
This is HUGE.
1. The court holds Google responsible for statements made by its AI, considering them Google's statements (search engines have limited liability for results in their engine as they're the words of other sites/companies/people), meaning when their AI lies/hallucinates they're liable for the defamation/harm resulting from those statements.
2. Google's defense that customers are generally aware of the lack of reliability and are responsible for fact checking was dismissed. As the court pointed out, that would "significantly diminish" AI Search's stated purpose and it can't be distinguished from Google's business practices/statements as a search tool.
3. Studies have found about 91% of Google's everyday AI responses are accurate, leaving millions of searches per HOUR with potential liability for falsehoods. 56% of correct responses weren't supported by the sources the AI listed. Both of which mean Google is now liable for a LOT more AI "errors."
4. Google was held liable for 80% of court costs in this case and this precedent is expected to reverberate around the world. This is a massive shift from the 3rd-party search provider role Google has previously played and it comes right as they've tied ALL searches to their AI search.
TL;DR Google reeeeeally stepped in it this time.
Google should go back to just providing excellent search results with a relevant paid result at the top. (E.g. when you search for "lawyers in Albany", the paid result is an Albany lawyer)

the funniest part of shards of honour is when cordelia's mum asks her what she sees in aral and she's like...... well its true he's not hot. and he's very strange. and a murderer. and he did keep me prisoner for half a month. and her mom is like [struggling] is he a good conversationalist? and she's like no in fact it gives me nightmares. i likehim because he sucks 👍
oh and when i was a year old, after i got my foot amputated my parents were pushing me around in a stroller at a street festival in miami and i was chewing on my foot or whatever and this street performer came up to us and was like “aw i bet that tastes good!!” and my dad was like “yeah look at what she did to the other one!!!!” and pulled back the blanket covering my left leg to show a stump with a huge scar on it and i’m pretty sure my dad terrified that poor man
A friend of ours worked in a movie theater. One night, a rowdy little boy decided to kick over all the stands that held up the red velvet cords.
After several attempt to stop him, she finally declared, “If you keep kicking those over, your leg will fall off!”
No sooner had she said this than she looked up and was mortified to notice a man standing on a pair of crutches with one leg.
Before she could apologize, he looked down at the boy and sighed, “I used to love to kick those.”
The kid ran away.
My small hand looks normal enough that many people don’t notice for quite some time that it’s missing fingers, and I sometimes get people questioning if my hand was always like that but they never noticed, or if something recent happened to them.
So as a kid I absolutely loved when people tentatively asked me what happened to my hand and I’d unsuspiciously say, “What about my—” looking down at them, “notice” the missing fingers, and suddenly scream-recoil away as though I’d never seen the issue before. Managed to give quite a fright to multiple well-meaning adults about it. ✌️😎
I had a boyfriend once who was born without one of his thumbs. He used to love messing with people when they asked him about it.
“Shark attack. He wasn’t very hungry.”
“I used to bite my nails. Well, nail. Singular.”
“Tried that optical illusion where you magically tear your thumb in half? Turns out I’m really bad at it.”
and, his favorite:
“Who has two thumbs and a million dollars? Th— [goes to point his thumbs at his chest, notices one is missing] — Aw, man…”

in other developments re german/anglo cultural exchange on breadstuffs, this image was posted to a facebook group yesterday
the following events ensued:
1. predictable lively discussion on the preparation of Wienerschnitzel, in which natives and wurstaboos are pro-puff and everybody else is like *confused dog head tilt* why wouldn’t you want the crust to stay ~attached to the thing you put it on? as with other fried foods?
2. thirty “Bad Schnitzel is my band name” jokes
3. thirty “Bad Schnitzel is my stripper name” jokes
4. one “ah yes, Bad Schnitzel! a lovely spa town” joke
5. this absolute masterpiece:
hi this tag perfectly encapsulates the FML coefficient of my life as a non-german speaker living in germany and i’m going to frame it
