Julien killing Koral is such a good character moment - that whole scene. He's made it a life goal to kill as many Tachonis as possible, but because Occtis asked him to, he was willing to talk to Koral first and maybe spare his life. It's only when he realizes Koral was an unrepentant actor in the massacre of his family and home that he decides to kill him.

The Julien Davinos of two weeks ago was so angry at his losses that he wouldn't have hesitated, but he's calmed down just enough, bonded just enough with Occtis, that he waited to be sure that Koral deserved to die before killing him. I said ages ago that everything Julien does has to be viewed through the lens of someone furious in grief, and that he would probably change as time went on, and I think we're see the start of that.

When Thimble first meets Thjazi, she leads with "I can kill a bunch of mice in your house. Also, I'm really good at braiding hair." Obviously from the campaign thus far, there is no question that her combat skills have far eclipsed that initial promise with her slicing and dicing experienced human-sized combatants and dangerous shadows right and left. Therefore, as the new Seekers embark on their next quest, I think it is high time for the hair-braiding half of the skillset to make a reappearance.

She has three long-haired party members with varied hair textures to practice on (potentially four if Bolaire brought his wig and is amenable) and both tiny and big forms to work in for extra versatility.

Give Kattigan some pretty braids and flower crowns--he'll love it. Vaelus, too--in fact, Thimble can probably recruit her help; surely someone who spent her childhood frolicking in the woods with unicorns has some long-dormant flower-crown skills to reawaken.

Julien is going to hate this and will undoubtedly not be at all amenable to participating, but, frankly, after the past couple of weeks, I think the low-stakes threat/rogue-on-(part-)rogue assault of how many braids and flowers Thimble can get into his hair before he notices will probably do him good. Get his mind off Tachonis plots and give him a good excuse for melodramatic bickering. It's enrichment.

I kept forgetting my nighttime antidepressant so I set an alarm where the sound was a recording of me saying "HEY. TAKE YOUR FUCKING PILL" because I thought it would be funny. It was funny about three times, and then it started making me mad and I'd dismiss it right away to make it stop. So I handed my phone to my partner, who made another recording sweetly saying "Okay Shira, it's time to take your medication" and now I don't get mad anymore and I take my pill. The "compassion over punishment" camp has gotta get something wrong one of these days
