Danny has always spoken highly of Chris, he clearly enjoys working with him, god forbid he express that eh? The meltdowns today have been as embarrassing as they are ridiculous.

And as for the “heart of gold” line that has also seen a fair few meltdowns. The last time we saw Kev in the village after the hostage situation Robert told him “you are a good person and you deserve to be happy” (🤢)

It has been well eatabished that Robert sees Kev as a good person who he drove to extremes by leading him on and lying to him. He knows people can be driven to snap and that is how he sees Kev’s actions (Roberts POV) none of what we saw yesterday was OOC or jarring. It’s just unfortunately the way Robert has consistently been written in regard to Kev. Deal with it or don’t deal with it but don’t pretend it was out of nowhere.

I just rewatched some of Johns scenes - including his introuction.

And sometimes I wonder, what Emmerdale had planned for him. Nowadays it feels like the make everything up as they go and I wonder if it was the same back them or if they had a plan. Did they know from the moment Nate left that he was going to turn up dead? Did they know from the beginning that John would be involved? How long in advance did they plan Roberts return? When did they get Ryans confirmation?

I really hope they don't screw up Serena the same way.

Sometimes I'd really like to be a fly on the wall in the writers room.

Yes they knew. Oliver had already confirmed that he was told when he was cast that John would kill Nate. That storyline was planned well ahead of filming.

Unless circumstances change when episodes are already storylined and scripts are already in the process of being written (ie Danny being asking leave to film the apprentice with only a couple of months notice) then everything is planned meticulously. It’s huge operation with a thousand moving parts.

Seen the Chas Kev spoiler about her telling him he would be a great dad 🙄🥱😂

It’s hopefully just a random scene but but BUT Chas having an affair with Kev would be ENTIRELY in character for her so no one be surprised if that’s where we end up. I actually couldn’t think of a more likely (or worse) thing for Chas to do.

We don’t even know if Robert knows about Anthony. The show could throw in a casual mention at any point to let us know he does but until they do I have to assume he doesn’t. Which means he doesn’t know the extent of how much John preyed on Aaron’s vulnerabilities and how he used them to manipulate him and make him dependent on him. Probably only Ruby really gets that and unfortunately she isn’t crossing into Aaron’s stories atm.

The thing is they are making a point to show Serena can be sensitive and aware through her interactions with Charity. So the fact she keeps bringing up Aaron’s abuser around him so casually is very much something she is doing purposely. It’s really pissing me off as is Robert telling Aaron not to be mad about it. You weren’t the one thrown off a cliff or driven into traffic by someone you trusted Robert. Let him be mad ffs and maybe try pulling Serena up on being a deliberately insensitive prick instead of moaning at Aaron (this is all very in character stuff so I’m not mad mad don’t worry)

That said they are exploring Aaron’s trauma at last! Probably won’t go as in-depth as I’d like but it’s something. He has been so closed off and cold since Corriedale (well since the cliff actually bit it’s been more pronounced since Corriedale) which has to be a choice. Danny isn’t just gonna change the way he plays Aaron out of nowhere for no reason.

John used Aaron’s vulnerability against him, played on it to manipulate him after Anthony. Now Aaron is refusing to ever let himself be vulnerable again. Which is gonna be hard because he has been living with an undiagnosed mental illness for years.
