I think it’s likely that the original plan was for the flashback to reveal that Kev didn’t just stab himself but that he was behind Jez targeting Robert to begin with. So that he could “rescue him” and make Robert more dependent on him.

It’s never made sense to me if Kev was this feared psycho why he would let the beatings get so bad before intervening, or why Robert would have been targeted at all given who his cell mate was. Kev’s presence should have been enough of a deterrent from any bullies.

It will in fact remain my head canon until I’m told otherwise. Of course the chances of the show ever actually revealing it now that Kev is the cuddly cake man are slim.

Wasn’t going to weigh in on this discourse bc I think it’s a bit silly but since it’s still a topic of conversation and concern:

All Miller said (in an admittedly awkward and not very tactful way): Robert and Aaron’s relationship is underpinned by a strong friendship and not solely on sex (which can be a stereotype of queer male relationships).

This is different from couples like Coira whose relationship is largely underpinned by sex and who constantly cheat on each other as a result.

This basis of friendship means they don’t need to be constantly physical with each other to show they are still in love.

Miller was probably just trying to explain the lack of affection so far this year. And while there are real issues with the lack of warmth and general affection between them as of late (and I do think sex underpins far more of their relationship than he suggested) his comments do not suggest or imply that they will never kiss again or that they will high-five at the alter if /when they get married again.

Just to keep things in perspective. Keep demanding improvements to the show overall by those in charge. That’s how we get more SSW16 and less whatever 2026 has been. Not by reading too much into off-the-cuff comments actors tend to make when they’re not thinking.

Still can’t believe Emmerdale have Charles and Aaron both in groups that put them at very elevated risk of aggressive prostate cancer and they decided to give the storyline to bloody Cain so he can wrestle with his masculinity for the 15000th time.

They could have done something incredibly positive and got the message out there that 1 in 4 men of Afro Caribbean descent will be diagnosed with prostate cancer, that they are more likely to have an aggressive form of prostate cancer and have high mortality rates due to late diagnosis and got more black men out there getting tested.

But no it just had to be Cain.
