my recipe for drawing hands!
(small note that this is a shortcut that is more abt style and ease than anatomical accuracy. it helps to take time to really properly study hands, makes it easier to bend the rules a bit like this and have it still look good!!)
(learn rules b4 u break them or whatevah)

Definitely one of the Top Images of all time I gotta say
today i learned twitter artists are posting their own art but captioning it as if they're reposting someone else's work, bc it gives them waaay more engagement. and its worked every time. the state of social media is truly so over 😭
like what is going on...
from the perspective of a viewer, self-promotion conveys desperation. not even in art, either -- it's like glancing over someone's linkedin page and seeing two paragraphs of uninterrupted corporate jargon, basically impressing upon the viewer that "hey, i'm super good at this corporate lingo thing, pleeease please hire me!"
art is the same. in the top right image, the artist has jammed: (1) superfluous personal details ("been offline on vaca for the last few days"), (2) random visibility hashtags ("#PortfolioDay"), and (3) multiple fandom hashtags ("#zelda", "#totk", and "#TearsOfTheKingdom") in a limited tweet space. the overall message is "please, god, SOMEBODY look at my work." it makes the viewer uncomfortable and vaguely guilty, putting a sense of obligation into their engagement. it reminds one of a panhandler on the side of the road.
by contrast, pretending as if the work isn't yours totally gets rid of that impression. there's no subconscious "ugh" reaction from viewers, so they're less likely to scroll past it. this frees up emotional bandwidth for the viewer to judge the art on its own merits. this is critical on twitter -- the first two seconds' impression can make or break a post.
this is no more dystopian than any of the other million dirty tricks (outrage, fear, clickbait) people use to get attention online. the only thing surprising about it is that people haven't been doing it for longer.
