This part at the end of Ch4 is making me lose my mind. In game, the guitar is muted. The other hand is very heavily implied to be Dess as it uses her guitar sound

we can assume the doors that are described to be able to fit a large person is referring to the knight. which confirms that whatever the knight is, they are as tall as they are in the dark world. dess’ walk-in closet is described as “oversized” which of course, could be due to the fact that it can fit a drumset. however due to how high up the clothes are it’s possible that dess was just abnormally tall.

of course, there is a ladder which could mean that dess could’ve used this to reach stuff, but it could also just be there to explain how kris got the guitar up there.

like i love the happy, healthy polycule, but i also am so, so extremely invested in the absolutely convoluted mess of tangles between the three of them.

and that's not even touching on the plot of the game barreling towards them at 300 miles per hour (with ralsei in tow)

like kris "can't have nothing in this house" dreemurr drives me insane because if they do have a one-sided crush on susie, it's another reminder of something they cannot hope for, wish for, or be a part of due to being human, being an 'other'. they're two outcasts who have finally found 'home' in one another, but they can't be together for long because there's a better calling for susie and a darker one for kris. this is also why i feel like kris would want susie and noelle to be happy together, even if (perhaps even especially) if it's at their expense

then you have their relationship to noelle "old habits die hard" holiday. they clearly care for her, but have to push her away b/c of what happened to dess, and in doing so, they see that noelle has a crush on susie for the exact same traits that noelle loved about them (the good kind of scary). they see noelle asking them to leave her and susie be and they already choose to sit far away to give the two space.

and what right do they have to get between their happiness, you know? they're hitting it off, it's going well, kris just needs to march to the beat that they're given and everyone else will be happy.

perhaps they've long since persuaded themself that they're the reason everything has gone wrong and they don't want to do that to susie and do it again to noelle

god i haven't even touched on susie and noelle's parts too.

resembles the most like peonies but could also be pink carnations.

in china and japan they're seen as the king/queen of flowers, with the former as honor, good fortune, love, affection, feminine beauty, and the latter as righteous, noble spirit, courage, strength and bravery. though both interpretations are commonly shared by both.

-pink carnations often mean gratitude, love and admiration. though i found some sources listing them for fascination and distinction.

pretty abstract? but since the petals look round and susie ate a similar one in chaptor 4, I have to assume its edible? unless susie is immune to toxins, my best guess is either pansies or violets. both commonly used for culinary dishes.

-in hanakotoba, pansies mean thoughtfulness, kind love and consideration.

-violets for sincerity, humility, small happiness and honesty. also has ties to sapphic culture.

good ol buttercup, can't go wrong with buttercups.

from victorian floriography- sarcasm, ingratitude, childishness, riches and memories of childhood. pretty bad to consume, but apparently some species can be used in traditional medicines against fevers,rheumatism and rubefacient. that's not related to this,i just thought it was neat.

Edit: i just realized that this could be a japanese kerria which symbolizes prosperity, wealth, rejuvenation and renewal. also connected to wabi-sabi and poetry.

white lilies or sakura.

lilies- purity, innocence, dignity, and iconic symbol for girls love(yuri). commonly used at funerals to symbolize the departed's soul returning to innocence.

sakura -mono no aware, exceptional beauty, elegance, refinement, wabi-sabi, love, hope, vitality and rebirth.

Hanakotoba -vanity/self-love, respect, good fortune, and happiness

victorian floriography- evanescent happiness and deceitful hopes, chivalry, new beginnings, regard and unrequited love.
