The thing is that you can curate your online experience in ways you can't in meatspace. Like, you decide where you go and who you interact with. Block buttons are just a click away. You can type out a whole angry rant to get it out of your system and then decide not to post it and just close the tab instead. You can stop following things that no longer interest you and (most of the time) nobody even knows to get offended about it. Really, online life is what you make of it. If yours sucks, you can probably change that.
