that vid of everyone laughing at trump’s “joke” about having to also “invite the women” or he’d be impeached that the whole group laughed at is just replaying over and over in my head. that women’s hockey team is full of elite athletes who play the same sport as all of them (whilst getting paid practically nothing in comparison), and have won olympic gold twice in the last 3 games. ellen hughes is a former team usa player and a pioneer of women’s international hockey and is on the development staff for that very same women’s team who was just the butt of a joke in a locker room with two of her sons present. and yeah, i know, maybe it shouldn’t be surprising, but it’s still really fucking disappointing.

so many arguments on here about hockey deem it as the only ‘real’ sport and it betrays the racist and patriarchal views that the hockey community propagates

in general ive realized that people have a hard time conceiving of sports as a cultural output and an art ... many people think Sport is its own thing completely detached from the world around it it's kind of embarrassing
