I love how people imagine the first contact between Grace and Simon. Like if Simon directly attack him or is too afraid and hide in a corner. Imagine if Simon wakes up in the biodome attack Grace then realize he just attack some kind of angel and hide in a corner mumbling prayers.

and Grace is like oh wait he speaks Latin, I know Latin, bc of course he knows it at least some base like animals and plants but to do a conversation is an another level.

With middle school class memories he can finally say “ salve, tutus es” ( translation: hello you are safe)

they can vaguely communicate with basic words and stuff, Simon know way more Latin than him but they keep it really simple.

And after weeks even months of talking I want some day at a really random moment Simon to curse and Grace is like :

“ you motherfucker you can speak English”

When I get blood samples at work sometimes they’re still warm from being imminently inside the patient’s veins and my hands are always cold because all the labs Ive work in are in the basement and they keep it kinda cold for whatever reason (and I’m also just a chilly kid).

And I clutch the little warm tubes of blood and feel this sick person warming my hands and I think about how kind you might be and how I wish I could hold your hand and how badly, how really really badly, I want you to get better and stay warm and hold someone’s hand again.

And anyway sometimes it’s better to not think so vividly about the people I’m doing tests for. I’m a good little cog in a vast machine of people all trying to heal and cure, and my cog feels so fucking small sometimes. But I hope the blood I prepare for you helps you breathe better and laugh and wake up feeling well rested.

We’ve never met but you warmed my hands and I want you to know I love you and I’m rooting for you.

I think people forget that Stratt amnesticized Grace with the goal that Ilyukina and Yao would be there to help him, y’know NOT DIE, and then THEY DIED before he woke up.

So like she gets the recordings and realizes Yao and Ilyukina are dead before he wakes up so he’s got no pilot, no engineer, and no memories.

And then you also have to remember that the EXISTENCE of these recordings and the fact they were accompanied by the Taumoeba means that an amnesticized Grace somehow managed to save earth without a pilot or engineer and shoddy memory that only vaguely gives him enough to work with as he works.

Like what the fuck man.
