“A boy or girl?”  Valda’s hands smooth over the gentle swell of her stomach. A slight smile tugs at her lips. “It's energy is not yet distinct enough from mine to tell,” she says. “But… A boy, I think.”  Elys smiles. No matter how much he means it, it feels thin. “Congratulations.”  Valda eyes him. One of her dark eyebrows arches. Mildly, she says, “A bit belated. I'm quite far along.”  “I've been busy,” Elys says.   “So I hear.”

Pebbles clatter on the beach as Baylen skips over the low retaining wall. Elys halts. Ahead of him, Baylen goes bounding down the beach. When Elys doesn't follow, he turns, eyes searching Elys’ face. “Are you coming?”   The shallows are clear and bright, water sparkling on the surface. Beyond the retaining wall, a little copse of trees provides the enticing illusion of a wilderness. Oak trees stand stately along the retaining wall, leaves rustling in the summer air. A pair of willows bow over the lake, their branches drooping over the water. A little rowboat bobs in the water alongside a dock about the right size for children of Baylen and Ursa’s age.  Despite the hour, a low mist sits on the deeper waters of the lake, though even if the water was clear, the distant shore of Ormorin would be naught but a dark smudge on the horizon.   It's pleasant enough, but the sight has Elys feeling sick. It's been a long time since he stood on that shore. He isn't eager to do so again. Elys blinks, unable to stop himself from taking a step away from the beach. “Ah.” His mouth feels dry. “No.”  Baylen wilts a bit. “Not even for a moment?”  “No,” Elys says again. He shakes himself, lifting his hand to run over his face. “No, Baylen. We ought to go back anyhow.”

answered here but ill give you a bonus and tell you what the last thing i wrote down in my googs was a bit for my haunting fic and it features Elys interacting with children.

Reaching out, Elys plucks a stray leaf from his hair. “I only just stepped off the train,” he says, flicking the debris to the floor. “Your father required me most urgently, apparently.”  “Where have you been?”  “Basikha,” Elys says. Baylen’s eyes get wide. “Did you bring me back anything?”  “Baylen,” Horace admonishes gently, but Elys waves a hand.  “Naught but the road dust on my boots, unfortunately,” Elys says. When Baylen’s expression falters, he adds, “And perhaps a story or two.”  Horace eyes him. “Age appropriate ones, I hope.”  “Of course,” Elys says breezily. “They're the only kind I have.”  Baylen’s eyes flick between Horace and Elys. “Can you come with us?” “If His Majesty allows it,” Elys says.  Horace rolls his eyes. Sighing, he lets his daughter down. “I suppose there's no harm in it,” he says. “I fear more for your safety than theirs, anyhow.”

ahh ty!! nevermind that this was like a WHOLE DAY LATE....... my bad....

🍓 ⇢ how did you get into writing fanfiction? 

I started reading fanfic when i was around 1-10 when i accidentally stumbled across warrior cats fic on fanfic.net and i was like woahhhhh.....a whole bunch of free stories about the things i like???? amazing. i still remember a few of the fics i read and liked. then i started reading hellboy and teentitans fanfic. i was pretty precocious at that age, and i was writing my own original fiction. Getting up super early in the mornings to sneak into my dad's office and sign into my profile on the computer so i could write some silly stuff... (Fun fact but the original project i was writing was a fantasy isekai. The characters were named Marcus, Ash, and Rhunon. I have the art i did for it, somewhere...) THEN i went and made my first fandom oc (teen titans, she was a shapeshifter named Legion) but it wasnt until I was maybe 12 or 13 that I started having ideas of my own. I wrote several fics for the avengers and hellboy, all of which featured a FMC oc lol, and I honestly remember having a pretty dedicated readerbase for my marvel stuff. Hellboy stuff was less popular because it was a smaller fandom, but I think i had more fun writing it. I still have all that somewhere, and I revisit it for fun sometimes. When I was around 14 or 15 I got soooo embarrassed of my ff.net account, I had my cousin log on and nuke it for me lmfao. I remember getting razzed over my profile... ummmmm i wrote a lot of fo4 fanfic at the time too, but I never posted it. It lives in my goog docs. and i realize ive gotten really off track...

UMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.......... im enjoying making art...... my job has been decent..... i discovered the free movies and tv shows on youtube and its given me more to listen to in the bg while i work
