I think people wanted complicated, not jackasses. She’s not very complicated.

Closeted transwoman abuses women around her cause she has terrible coping mechanisms and no desire to change her ways.

Also she’s literally a dead minority trope.

She’s the only canonically trans character and she basically dies at the end.

She wasn’t complicated. She was just abusive.
