Fun way to give yourself existential dread:
Let's turn your lifespan into a roll of tape.
The average roll of duct tape is about 180 feet long, if you use duct tape with some regularity you'll learn that it's surprisingly easy to use 180 feet (2160 inches) of duct tape. (It helps that the shit is incredibly versatile)
Now let's convert length into time, every inch will be equal to one day, meaning a foot is 12 days.
Assuming you live till 80, you'd have 29,200 inches of tape to use. That's 2,433 feet worth of tape (that's not even a mile). Or, if each roll is 180 feet, 13 and a half rolls of tape. Birth to average death, in 13 and a bit rolls of duct tape.
By the time you're 20, you've used just about 4 rolls of duct tape. Bringing you already below 10 left.
They say it takes about 5 years of practice to become an advanced piano player, spending about an hour each day on practice. That's just slightly less than one full roll of tape. What do you spend an hour on each day?
How much of your tape is used up at work? How much tape sleeping? Using the washroom? Eating? Going to appointments? Spent in transit? Now check your screen time, is it worth it? Ask yourself if that much time(tape) is worth being spent with whatever you're doing online. Does it feel good? Do you feel like you're spending your tape how you want?
Your roll of tape has an end, everybody's does. Some people's are shorter than others.
Are you using your tape or are you just letting other people use it for you?
