I find myself reciting this poem to myself every time I’m in the woods and the ring-neck parakeets are going off… No idea if these are the green parrots the author meant, but it’s very apropos.

This is bat friendly street lighting, which not only looks sick as fuck but allows bats to pass through without disturbance, as they cannot see red.
orange and especially white lights deter bats and prevent them from reaching feeding grounds at nighttime. Please if you can, write to your local council and encourage red street lights!!!!
ALSO! red light doesn’t fuck up human night vision much so you can go in and out of lit areas without readjusting
the red light not fucking up human night vision is also why a number of older cars had gauges that lit up red at night
i legit miss red lights in cars and appliances n stuff. red city lighting is goated
I used to have a red lens for my head lamp because when stargazing/doing telescope astronomy you sometimes need to read something/write in a notebook/whatever, you didn't want to turn a light on, blind yourself, and then spend another five minutes adjusting back. Similarly useful for camping!

at the time, Aldrin was 72 years old, 6 foot 2 inches, and 250 pounds. Sibel (the man he punched) was 37 years old
Sibel has made multiple "documentaries" about the moon landing being fake and has repeatedly harassed the astronauts involved, in this instance getting Aldrin to agree to the above meeting by pretending to be doing an interview on space for a Japanese children's television show
Buzz Aldrin's step-daughter was present, and in addition to being poked repeatedly and aggressively with a bible (Sibrel wanted him to swear on a bible that he went to the moon) Aldrin felt the man following them into the hotel refusing to leave them alone might pose a threat to her
charges against Aldrin were either dropped or never filed, based on Aldrin's lack of a prior criminal record, witness accounts of Sibrel's having drawn Aldrin to the hotel under false pretenses, Sibrel's aggressiveness before the punch, and Sibrel having declined to seek medical attention and sustaining no obvious injury visible to witnesses during the incident

You have to go to the bottom of page 5 in the iron lung tag before you get to a fic that isn’t PHM, and from there, it’s not until page 9 that you get another one. Obviously ao3 has inbuilt filters to exclude crossovers but still…it’s a lot.
