i think one of the best parts about being a teenager in the early to mid 2010s was that cigarettes were definitely not cool anymore and vapes hadn’t popularized yet so my lungs made it out of my peak impressionable years relatively unscathed

basically the best thing any character can do is decide they don't want to be afraid anymore - in fact they never want to be afraid of anything ever again - and take action so drastic they fail to realise that this too is a decision motivated by fear. or to account for the Consequences of that.

nell vance is the best character of all time because i have never seen the brutal effect loneliness has on a person represented so well or completely - for not only are you alone, but in your isolation you have grown so malformed and desperate that you become unable to escape the isolation that made you. loneliness makes you a creature that other people can't love - or can't love enough to save you, because you don't have the experience you need to make yourself lovable. it's a vicious cycle. because you've never been wanted anywhere, you'll never be wanted anywhere.
