people are always so surprised when i tell them my plumage changing from vibrant hues to grayish browns wasn't done surgically. cis people need to get more educated on the effects of HRT immediately
They wear suits, but they don't even know basic etiquette.
Based on @cowardsexual 's post of a very sleepy phm science team and Grace's teacher instincts
"yeah I'm mocking you for not measuring up to feminine beauty standards... b-but you're not ~really~ a woman by my standards, so I'm not being misogynistic! no no I'm a feminist I swear!"
Funny part is that if you do manage to measure up to feminine beauty standards, their rhetoric switches to "you shouldn't wear so much makeup," "why is your hair so long," "you look like a 1950s housewife" (someone actually said that to me two days ago 🙄). You're either not feminine enough, or you are and then you're *too* feminine.
can't believe the only options are 30 minutes early or 10 minutes late. if only there were some other way. but what can you do

the state does not need to assign you a sex, nor does it need to keep inalterable record of it btw
a very interesting terf objection to this one boils down to "but how would the state know who to protect?" because it speaks to the incredible privilege of being in a class the state actually ever remotely wants to protect. most oppressed groups do not want the state to have a registry of them, lol
the patriarchy has done a great job convincing white cisgender women that it's in their best interests to maintain it
Researchers can do studies that track disparate impacts across genders just fine without the government storing your assigned sex as part of your legal identity. They do this with race and orientation and disability and so on just fine.
A census can understand population level trends just fine without storing your assigned sex as part of your legal identity. They can ask for this information in the census. The census tracking population level data is not the same as your assigned sex being permanently part of your legal identity. (At least, the way my country does a census.)
Your doctor can know your anatomy by you communicating it to them if/when it is relevant. There is never a time when they might need to know something that could only be conveyed by your assigned sex being officially relayed to them via government documentation. You can just use your words. The same way you tell your doctor any other part of your medical history.
People respond to "the government doesn't need to store your assigned sex as part of your legal identity" as if they are hearing "no one should ever acknowledge gender or sex at all" but that's not what's being said.
Your birth certificate conveys important legal information about you. Your name, as a designation. Your parents, as they have a legal obligation to you. Your place of birth, as that place has a legal obligation to you. Date and time of birth, since age is important for application of some laws.
And sex. That's on there too. But what is the legal relevance? What laws is the government going to apply to you differently based on what sex is on your birth certificate? I can only think of one thing my government really uses that for, and that is to determine who has to sign up for the draft. And guess what, fuck that shit anyway. The government also used to use this to decide who is allowed to marry who. They don't do that anymore. For now.
There is literally no reason my assigned sex needs to be part of my legal identity. My government is not using that for anything (important). It doesn't matter. If the gender markers on everyone's IDs vanished tomorrow nothing (except maybe the draft) would be significantly negatively affected. Data collection for research could continue as usual since researchers usually have people self report these characteristics rather than checking their government IDs. My doctors would still know which organs I have and if they forgot, I could tell them. I don't want anything to be part of my legal identity that doesn't have to be.
"I wish you were born differently," she tells you, two beers in. You look confused; she continues.
"I wish you had been born my sister so I could have had you from the start. None of those dipshit boyfriends who treated you like shit. None of those idiot girlfriends who were garbage. Just us. I would have kept you safe from all of that. You could have been my little sister, you know?"
She's already drunk, leaning against you for stability.
"I guess," she says "at least now I finally have you so we can do this." She pulls you into a drunken kiss, her lips taste like alcohol and her watermelon chapstick.
"Fuck it, you're my sister now." She says. She must have meant girlfriend, right?
I haaaaaaaaaaate the "affirmation only" framing of trans rights that some ostensibly pro-trans advocates take like there are actually more pertinent issues than feeling affirmed going on here.
I didn't go through the bureaucratic process of changing my Norwegian personal ID number, which encodes gender in it, because having an odd number there made me feel bad.
I did it because for someone with my name and outward appearance, having "man" on my IDs reveals private medical information to everyone who sees the document, information that they aren't entitled to know, which they might act on in deeply undesirable ways.
Taking HRT also isn't something I'm doing to be affirmed, it's something I'm doing because the biological processes signaled by having high levels of estrogen and low levels of testosterone are both something I want, and something that helps my overall well-being and functioning in daily life. Material, real, physiological effects that are well understood, easy to look up, and not about some vague sense that putting estrogen in my bloodstream is a badge of validity handed out by the doctor.
Like at some point I just want to ask these people if they actually believe trans people exist or if they just feel obligated to humor the idea to be nice. Have they actually understood that there are people walking around today with the full effects of transition care already sorted? Have they comprehended that the surgeries exist beyond the occasional picture of someone who's still in recovery?
Do you live in the same material reality as trans people, or are you just being polite to shadows on the wall?
Oh and this is also part of the broader centrist "every material claim the far right makes is true, I just disagree with their tone and think we should be nice" tendency. Like what I'm outlining here is a worldview where the anti-trans notion that trans people Do Not Exist is taken for granted.
every time one of my TME mutuals or friends is like “ya people are being so transmisogynist about amazing digital circus, i haven’t watched it how hard is it to be normal about transfem characters & transfem art? Anyway i ain’t watching that shit” and like idk how to tell you 1. that you should watch it cause it’s good and, 2. obviously you don’t have to watch it but maybe you should still be less glib about how you think you’re too good for it? comes off as a little sexist imo

Clumsy trans woman challenges
“Some trans people are privileged” which ones. Genuinely which ones.
All white trans people are privileged. All trans adults are privileged. All trans people living in the imperial core are privileged. All trans capitalists are privileged. All trans neutypical people are privileged. And yes, all transmasculine people are privileged.
What do you think privilege is, purity of soul?
the thing about being "good with kids" is all it takes is literally just not trying to control and mould them with every interaction. it's just being a normal person and engaging with them through normal interactions like having conversations and playing games. it's just being genuine and friendly and not perceiving them as lumps of wet clay you are there to shape. "oh you're so good with kids" thanks it's because I think they are people
i was talking about this on my server earlier but i really think "cozy" is one of the worst genre labels out there in the gaming space. like people dunk on the terms "metroidvania" and "first person shooter" a lot for being uncreative or limiting but at least those are like... falsifiable descriptors. you can look at a game and go "yeah this game's mechanics and core gameplay loop generally operate like metroid/castlevania" or "yeah this game primarily uses a first person camera paired with some sort of projectile weapon" so i don't think they're completely useless. but "cozy" is just nonsense. fully subjective. i see a lot of games popularly labeled as "cozy" that share almost zero mechanical features between them and don't even always match in tone or aesthetic. hearing a game described as "cozy" doesn't tell you anything about what to expect as a player beyond maybe giving you a sort of forewarning about the fanbase and their discomfort tolerance. "cozy" is not a quantifiable metric. like imagine if someone offered to buy you takeout and asked you what kind of food you'd like and you told them fully unironically, and with no further elaboration, "i want to get yummy food." that's what hearing "cozy games" sounds like to me
i think people are starting to confuse class analysis with bioessentialism. like... no not all men do this, but Men as a constructed social class do do this. that's still okay to say. that is regular material analysis of the world around us.
this is true, but it is not bioessentialist. both cis & trans men WILL see a mouse & eat it. this is because it is in their best interest to eat mice. they benefit from eating mice. this is essential to their class position, not their biological makeup.

I will be honest if someone posted "I'm a tutor and everyday I watch zoomers try to double tap on books to open them" thousands of you would reblog it and tag "😱 it's so scary that this is what all kids today are really like they're so helpless and stupid omg!!! those damn kids need to get off their phones!!!!"
things a concerning amount of people aged 25-40 on this site believe about today's children:
they don't know how to read and this makes them mean and dumb. also even though their meanness and dumbness are the result of poor education, they are still personal character flaws that deserve to be mocked.
they are responsible for wide scale censorship in schools and on social media. because, as we all know, children are famously politically powerful, never want to see horny or edgy content, and love it when books are banned in their school libraries.
they love to spread misinformation around so they can all armchair diagnose each other and act like they have learning disabilities in order to excuse their laziness about doing school work. obviously they are all liars and just need to just get their acts together and grow up instead of shirking responsibility for their actions like this.
they are uniquely cruel in comparison to past generations, and this is because of Phone. and also TikTok. no one has ever been cruel like this before.
they would all be much better off with their parents monitoring their internet usage. if they're closeted and their parents are homophobic then, well, sucks for them. kids being abused out of sight is better than them being annoying where I can see them.
please someone tell me how this is any different from cis transphobes going "you're so heckin valid (even though you're not a Real man/woman)"
i think telling trans men they're not men in a way that counts is heinously transphobic actually. all these people are obviously transmisogynists as well but atp i'm marking them red for their good old fashioned transphobia too
i've fought cis people who were dear to me for saying shit like this, why should i tolerate it from shitty dudes who, adding insult to injury, aren't just saying it because they're parroting the transphobic background noise of the world rn but to actively deny they benefit from transmisogyny??? fuck all the way off. i'm so tired of people on my asks telling me i should give more grace to ""my community"". these people are not my community and if i could i'd spit on every one of their faces until i died from dehydration
if you say or believe things similar to what's in the screenshot in the first post of this chain, i want you to know this is exactly the kind of people that rhetoric attracts. one would think receiving anons like these would be especially upsetting, but, as i said, this is simply the logical continuation of the arguments by oop. what else do you think "you might be the gender man but not the class men" mean? to my eyes, this terf here is not more transphobic than oop -they're saying exactly the same thing, hence my vitriol. anyway, speaking of oop and people defending them: these are your buddies! have fun!
