From my reply: maybe the repairs have to be done as a tiny line of kryptonian script which is why ma’s stitches keep coming out. Then she painstakingly hand stitches the kryptonian script and it turns out this is a highly specialized career back on krypton that took decades to master and she figured it out in one or two days
