It makes me so happy that my current favorite author of all time is someone who lived during a golden age of television interviewing especially with regards to interviews of major literary figures as opposed to Baby Gronk or whomever (V taught me about who Baby Gronk and The Costco Guys are today) so we have multiple videos of him simply explaining his artistic process on tape and at length in a way I don’t usually get with my favorite authors e.g. Dostoyevsky or Chekhov but then I remember that a solid half of those interviews are conducted by the most incompetent quote-farming sham journalists known to man and mostly don’t get any worthwhile information about his work out of him because the interviewer stresses him out to the point of exasperation or doesn’t let him complete his own thoughts and then I get mad again
