To me, Tae and Jk are so special: as a duo and as individuals. Both give me comfort, both make me understand myself better, both are inspirations, both make me so proud of who they are. Most of my blog is dedicated to Tae and Jk as Taekook, but I'll also always point out their individualism. To understand them as individuals makes me understand them as a duo more.

I'm also a huge BTS fan. I consider myself army and love all 7. While this is a Taekook blog, I'll most likely also be posting ot7 stuff.

New blog rule (and honestly the most important one): Don't be an asshole. I'm very open to different opinions, but I won't tolerate bullying of any kind on my blog. Whether this is in comments or in asks. I truly don't care who you are (tkkr, solo, ot7, a lurking jkkr) I will block you if you continously harrass others. I'm very aware that the comeback will be a source of strong emotions for everyone, but I also very much believe that there are ways to direct those emotions without being nasty to others. Everyone is welcome here, but you have to behave (so no name calling members, no hate towards members, no bullying of annons coming to my blog (you can be critical without being a bully)).

With this comeback we'll be getting so much content.. I already know I'm going to be very behind constantly. Please don't see me as an update account, please don't come to me with things like "why don't you post this about Jk" and "why don't you post this about Tae". There is no method to my fandom madness, I am wildy chaotic and impulsive.. what I post and when I post is very much up to how my day goes. If you let go of the idea of me having some sort of strategy, I promise everything about me will make much more sense 😂.

I know. Kinda wild. It’s an odd connecting of ‘dots’ they do. First of all, chances are they were there just simply not shown. I think at least we saw all members leave the hotel (damn stalker vids).

Most wild though, how jkkrs minds instantly go to content creation. I saw too many mentions of an AYS episode. Why on earth would you even want them to do that with only a couple of days inbetween shows and Jm clearly having been in not the best shape. The other thing mentioned was the filming of a GCF because Jk seemingly brought a camera. It’s them clinging to what they know in desparation while strongly hoping to be proven right by content being made.

it’s so funny that if i had to pick similar interests/things between jk and jm i’d pick their dancing and perfectionist tendencies and (this could be wrong) but i think they love spending time on their own doing their nerdy stuff. and anon just went “they both like clubbing and girls” like. ok

Yeah, I don’t see BTS as ‘everything is fake and planned’. Do they know the waterfights get great responses? Sure! Is it possible they start this knowing they get great responses? Sure! But, we can (in my opinion) also see genuine surprise and enjoyment in their faces. So I think it’s also simply real. They are not all that great actors 😂 and to me moments of surprise have always been important in seeing genuine responses.

They enlisted together, and that alone says a lot.

I've also noticed that whenever they're in the US, they seem to have mutual friends they hang out with. If I remember correctly, after the Spotify event, Jikook didn't go back to the hotel with everyone else. They returned much later that night.

So it's not impossible that they're close offcam, especially since they seem to share similar interests like clubbing, drinking, and girls lol. As for the fan service, I think they've toned it down because it probably isn't as effective anymore now that people are aware of Jimin and Daeun past (?) relationship.

Interesting take.

There is no tkk are the closest narrative outside tkk spaces. People are catching up on them being close, but overall they’re generally seen as good friends. Hobi and Tae have had a rise in being seen as closest, as have Jin and Jk. This comes from simply seeing them hang out and connect. Hobi and Tae’s friendship also doesn’t really play out on stage, but rather in their private time. Jin and Jk I would say is mostly visible because of stage presence and behind the scenes footage. Tae and Jk are seen together both on stage and in their private time. Jm and Jk though… kinda not as much on stage or in private. Not many mentions either (which we do get with Jm and Yoongi for instance). You also can’t really say Jm and Jk don’t display their friendship publicly, because in official footage for instance Jm has no issue saying he’ll just borrow whatever Jk packs. Ays is also not that long ago.. and when it comes to displaying a friendship that’s basically as big as it gets. So I tend to think there is just not much to share (also Jm is basically not sharing much anyways).

I do absolutely think they’re fine and close. I suspect they hang out still. I mean, you’d never think Yoongi and Jk hung out until we saw them running together, and likewise I suspect all members have moments they hang out and we simply never catch. I do think them enlisting together speaks to them being close friends. I don’t think it speaks to them being closest. Let’s say Mingyu and Jk had to enlist at the same time… they’d probably be excited about going together as well? People sometimes limit member’s bonds and friendships to only the seven of them, but that is only true in fandom’s eyes. They all have close friends that mean just as much to them as members do.

What’s with JK’s huge camera bag and the Jikook private trip? It’s giving Japan all over again. At first, I thought JK was going on a secret trip with Winter because of the camera bag—that’s literally what happened last year during the Winkook Japan trip. But then I saw a video of Winter already back in South Korea, so there goes that theory.

but then solo era came and they didn’t have to be together anymore and i think they never were the kind of close friends who’d seek out each other a lot voluntarily to hang out. i think they both have other people they’d rather spend time with on their rare free time off, even if they do love each other and have fun together.

overall the bulk of jikook content has always come from circumstances where they have to be together i think. like when they’re all active as a group and ays and even the military service (even tho that doesn’t count as Content but. ykwim). i think the only difference now is that they aren’t even seen together much during the group stuff (which is different from how it used to be like i mentioned above). idk maybe the fanservice requirements eased up and they don’t have to interact more than they naturally do so that’s why? like they can just gravitate towards the members that they’re closer to and come to each other only when they feel like it. i really really don’t think there’s any kind of animosity or discomfort there and i think they are close to each other but just not as close as they are with other members. and that’s ok!

Your point about the amount of footage available is so valid. When we look at the current time for instance, you can see how Jinkook, Vhope, and Taejin have been on the rise. Why? Because we see them together a lot and that allows for the forming of narratives. A really big thing about AYS is how it allowed the romantic narrative about Jkk to continue. While Jm and Jk’s interactions were not of a romantic or sexual nature, the setting (places that can easily be deemed romantic), editing (cue the trailer for ays1 which gave a false impression of Jk’s reaction to Jm saying he’d cuddle him), and the overall existence of the show (hours of footage of just the two of them, which gave plenty of room for people to focus on tiny moments and build on those) allows for heavy shipping. Ays has become a pillar in jkkrs believes like GCF Tokyo for instance. The hours of footage also makes it possible for jkkrs to gloss over and/or ignore moment in that series that make it clear there is no romance there. They dislike Jeju because it interferes with their narrative. They love Sapporo because it allows for more romanticization. Content matters. Substance wise AYS is pretty empty. It doesn’t give depth in conversation (which is also not to be expected btw), and it doesn’t have activities or experiences by Jk and Jm that I would deem are new or exciting in groundbreaking ways. You see them have fun. I like seeing them have fun. But it’s not content that’s interesting to people outside fandom, and I personally also feel even fandom has seen enough of this. As a duo they’re funny, but not interesting to watch just the two of them over a longer period of time. Because while seeing them joke around is nice at times, but at one point when that’s all it is (and I mean ays2 with the games was just too much) it’s like ‘yeah yeah, we know’. I love watching them. I have spent hour watching Jk just game (!), but ays had me zone out and rewind just because at times it was boring (due to being repetitive and too long). Now that doesn’t speak on Jk and Jm’s friendship though. I think many people are probably boring to watch for a longer time. I think Tae and Jk in similar context would probably also be boring at one point. Because people (friends, partners) don’t perform their interactions when its real. And to be honest… I think during AYS interactions were at times performative. And that is to be expected, because they are working on making content. Just like on stage they all do things to perform (not just dance and sing, but interactions with each other as well) they do this in content as well. So, I’ll get shit for saying Jm and Jk performed interactions during ays (hi jkk lurkers I still see you around), they’re actually just doing their job. I do think Jk and Jm have both eased down the more performative parts of their interactions. I think what we see from members in general these days lies more close to their natural ways.

I have always understood why Jm and Jk became Jkk the ship and why it worked so well. Exposure. I am fully convinced Jm and Tae could have been just as big a ship. Jm is a very physically affectionate person. I’ve seen jkkrs talk about how he comforts Jk (due the absence of him comforting Jk during Paris d2), but Jm comforts Tae the same way. Vmin were solidified as platonic soulmates though. I think Tae and Jm would probably be able to have much stronger shipping worthy moments than Jm and Jk, because Tae flusters Jm in a way Jk doesn’t. Because Tae is able to give back just as hard as Jm imo. Another Jm duo that I feel has natural flirty chemistry is Jm and Hobi.

Jk and Jm worked because imo they do also have an actual closeness and natural banter. So if put in a spotlight, giving many occasions for people to notice the two of them together it automatically becomes a thing. Their banter causes some more explosive moments and explosive moments will always attract more attention than smaller subtle ones. Grandeur gets mistaken for closeness, while I think closeness often lies in subtlety.

This is me personally, but I have always felt Jm is very older brother like to Jk… and I think even these days he still (at times) treats Jk as his younger. I think that has been a cause of some of Jk’s annoyances (both early on… rainy day fight) and now (ays1 in particular). Even though Jk enjoys being the maknae he does also want to be taken seriously and seen as an adult. I think Jm automatically (because it’s what he’s always known… similar to me and my siblings where we automatically slip into an older vs younger hierarchy when together) sometimes cutifies Jk and his behavior that Jk doesn’t always appreciate. Those are instances though, and overall I think they are very appreciative of each other.

I think between all members there is a basic starting point of closeness. That comes from having lived together, from having experiences highs and lows, from sharing the experience of what it means to be a BTS member. So Jm and Jk imo have also had that starting point of closeness. They have always been close. The rainy day fight is an example of that closeness where Jk (the younger) felt close enough to go against Jm, and how it affected him having had a fight. I think their Tokyo trip was a trip of two close friends and it meant something to them to experience this… the way traveling on your own is at that age. That basic starting point of closeness is still there and I don’t think that will ever go anywhere. They now have the addition of a shared experience of enlisting together as well.

Lol, I think you might actually be on to something here 😂😂. I haven’t had much time to look at footage much and only saw this come by in passing. So I felt it was possibly because he was checking on Tae for being tired or something… but this seems very plausible indeed. Anyways, I’m never that much on the side of separation anxiety. I mean, they miss each other when they’re away on separate schedules or something, but while on the same stage… unlikely 🫠.

Jkk relationship has lately made me wonder about stuff. I think it's too obvious that jk is constantly trying to avoid jmn and is very often pushing him away when jmn initiates a moment. there are zero interactions other than a few unavoidable ones and in my eyes its way too clear the jk is showing some kind of discomfort towards him. its not even about shipping. I wouldn't find it normal if it was about any bts pairing.

im not using it as a gotcha moment. I find it unusual. was it always like this and me as a baby army is now just experiencing it? they were together during enlistment and filmed two seasons of a travel show. what happened? do you think they are in bad terms for some reason?

Lumping these two together, because it overlaps.

So, I came into fandom in 2022, but really found my footing here around the start of 2023. I did not experience Jk and Jm and their friendship before that time. What I did experience was Jkkrs reaction to 2023 and that tells a lot. It has a similar feeling as these days, though the difference is that these days Jm and Jk are very clearly at the same schedule and at the same places. Especially during the first half of 2023, Jkkrs were talking about breakups and rough patches. The reason for that was that it was very clear that Jm and Jk did not spend much time together, and that surprised people. It leads me to believe that back then, while on the same schedule Jk and Jm hung out more often… and people thought that would commence during solo scheduling. It did not. Ays kinda confirmed what was already clear by them mentioning them not having hung out. It could also be seen through the moments we did see. Jk’s live for Jm (seen by jkkrs as yearning or whatever) was Jk realizing he hadn’t seen Jm much and wanted to support his solo album by shining a light on him. At Hobi’s enlistment it was clear they hadn’t seen each other a lot and during Jm’s practice video we could see him tell Jk to visit more. All in all though, whenever we saw them they were just normal. Happy to see each other, glad to spend some time together, not awkward.

AYS 1 came and went. Jkkrs were trying to act elated (and gaslighted themselves into believing their own narratives) but first responses to Episodes 1-5 showed disappointment as well. New York showed a Jk who was slightly annoyed (bad timing with him being unwell and in the midst of his solo promo. It also gave clues about Jm and Jk not spending much time together. Jeju had Tae in it and the only solution Jkkrs had to deal with the difference between Tae and Jk and Jk a Jm was to make it look like Jk (and Jm) didn’t want Tae there. Sapporro is the only part that was satisfactory. And, they’re not completely wrong. Jk and Jm did have a lovely time and they do really get along great. I never questioned whether Jk and Jm are actually close, because imo that simply shows.

Enlistment came and I truly love that Jk and Jm were able to enlist together. I think it was so important for them to have someone familiar there. I don’t think it was in the way of wanting to specifically enlist together, but opportunity gave them the chance to and they took it. If I knew a friend who had to enlist at the same time as me, I’d also want to go together. From the little they told us they did find comfort in having each other there. We did not see them much during this time. So it’s hard to say much about it.

When they got out, they almost immediately went to film AYS2. Imo that showed us they’re still close and comfortable. Having done enlistment together makes them share an important experience together. I don’t think it was fun for them though. While they do have some fun stories to tell, the overall feeling I get is that they want to leave it behind.

So now, we enter the more recent time. The time where Jkkrs are once again getting insecure and having breakup ideas. Because things are not as they expected. Honestly, I think this is just them in a similar way 2023 was. They’re obviously fine. We see them be fine all the time. The live they did in Busan was just normal. We see them sit together, talk together, drive in the same car, walk together, joke together, and it’s all just normal stuff. No awkwardness, no annoyance.

I think this is just how it goes with friendships sometimes. I’m pretty sure Jk and Jm consider themselves really close. They have a trust and comfort that is built on years of friendship. That’s not something that goes away easily. What I think may have happened (and what became clear in 2023) is that they stopped being important to each other on a daily basis. They’re not each other’s go to for hanging out. We see Jk with Tae a lot. I personally think he hangs with Hobi, Namjoon and Jin as well. I think for Jm it’s Yoongi and to a certain extent Namjoon. I used to think Jm and Hobi also hung out a lot, but I’ve seen that less than I thought I would as well. And to be fair, I do think Jm and Jk still hang out at times. They may share a meal or just visit each other’s rooms at times, but it’s definitely not as much as it probably used to be. And that’s also just fine I think. Friendships change and sometimes you just don’t fit the same you once used to. People are ever evolving, and you don’t always evolve in the same direction.

A couple of things to mention:

Ays was work. Work that was probably enjoyable for them, but still work and not something they did simply to hang out. So you can’t really see the existence of AYS as proof of a close friendship, but I do think they way we see them in it shows that they are.

The same goes for enlistment. That’s something they had to do and timing was probably what made them enlist in the buddy system.

Daeun and Jm was a real important… situation. The timing of that coming out and AYS2 shortly after got Jk a lot of shit. Jk solos went as far as to boycot ays. People have less patience for Jkk as a ship. So it’s possible they are mindful of that.

Well…. Took them long enough 😂. I’m sure there are also plenty left who still see Tae as the source of all evil, but the smartest thing jkkrs can do is just acknowledge that Tae and Jk (and Tae and Jm for that matter) are close.

What’s up? V doesn’t seem to be in the mood for fan service today. He wouldn’t even sit next to JK during the ment. He saw JK coming to sit beside him, then suddenly stood up and walked to the other side. JK followed, but when V noticed him, he went and sat in the middle instead.

Look at these smiles!!! For the actually dense people, Tae saw Jk coming with a bottle of water and misschief written on his face. Tae moved because of that, but Jk followed him… because obviously in this moment Jk’s sole purpose in life was to get water running down Tae’s shirt 😁. After Jk succeeded Tae went back to what’s supposedly the seating order(ish), and Jk just sat down.

Now my first reaction to your ask was ‘okay, this is a troll’ but then I remember this one tweet from a Jkkr during AYS 1 who was very seriously stating that Tae was trying to drown Jk during this pool moment…

I semi agree with anon. I dont care about Butter or Dynamite, I think they are generic pop song HOWEVER grammy is very mediocre overall. The year dynamite was running, Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande rain on me won, and the year Butter was nominated, Doja Cat and SZA won with "Kiss Me More". Neither are amazing songs either. They are very famous duos, but the songs are mid, at best.

The grammys has never been about the best music. It's also not only about popularity. It's more about who they want to give an award to. It's about the music industry.

If you make amazing music but only releases it on your blog and decided to submit, they will never consider it (an extreme example).

There are also awards like "this person should've won last year, but we gave the award to this other person, so this year they will win, even if they work is not really good".

Oscars are pretty similar.

So, did they deserve it? Hard to know considering that it's not about any metric of merit.

I hope they all realized that they dont need this type of validation and keep not submitting their songs to these awards.

How I see it, is similar to the enlistment. At a certain point, they get tired of being played and want to control the situation the best they can.

I think the greatest thing to come out of this is the conversation that’s happening in a wider sense. As armies obviously our main focus is on BTS, but while they are the reason for the current conversation, you can clearly see how this is not solely about them, but more about how the Grammys have been operating for years now. It has been criticized for much longer, both by artists and public. You can ask yourself how much a Grammy is worth having, when it’s given by an institution that has lost part of its worth.

Clearly there is a conversation about who the Grammys want to be needed. To me this simply shows that (even if intentions may be good) they have to think about how they operate, and what vision they have. I think Grammys have been coasting along on what they were long ago, not realizing that society and the industry may have changed faster than they have.

BTS have been in this industry a long time. They have eyes on their colleagues. They see how things pan out, and I think they saw what would possibly happen had they entered their work and it just didn’t feel right, so they just chose to not be a part of it.
