Papyrus speaks in all caps Papyrus font. The Warrior does speak mostly in caps, but in the standard game font. I don’t see any particular reason why Sans would continue to speak in his special font in Deltarune, but Papyrus wouldn’t.
In Undertale there are a handful occurrences when they don't use their font or even their gimmicks (all naps for paps/no caps for sans). There were some inconsistency especially when it was convinient for the story (when we first meet sans and don't know who he is is an example). I don't think it is far fetched to think Toby simply didn't use that font to not spoil the reveal.
Regardless, probably the biggest point against this theory though
It's fun when the robot character in the sci-fi show gets cut in half because nobody working on this type of media knows anything about robotics and you never know what you're going to find inside. Green printed circuit boards? Meat and viscera, but like in a weird colour? Just a shitload of goo?
I especially like it when the robot appears to have realistic musculature which operates via contraction, suggesting some sort of fluid-driven or shape-memory-based actuation, and then it gets dismembered and a bunch of random gears and sprockets go flying everywhere.

How the Weird Route progress is recorded in your save files
Spoilers for Deltarune chapter 5!
INTRO: dr.ini? filech4_2? What's that?[Skip to the next paragraph if you know the answer]
Deltarune has 4 kinds of SAVE files:
Files 0, 1, 2 which correspond to your file slots in the menu. The number in front is the chapter number. So filech4_2 means Chapter 4, [2]th (well, the third) slot from the top.
Files 3, 4, 5 which are copies (mostly) of 0, 1, 2 respectively and are recorded after you view the credits. These are the ones you can insert into the next chapter.
File 9 – the autosave. Loaded when you lose all HP.
.ini files – settings that all save files share such as full screen mode and controls. The interesting one here is dr.ini. dr.ini is DELTARUNE's version of undertale.ini and saves your creator name, Level(I don't remember what this does if anything at all), LOVE(Light World level), FakeLv(the Dark World level), time you spent playing for each of files 0-5 of every chapter, as well as a few other settings(mic sensitivity for some reason)
What you came here for – Weird Route thingies
Normally the WR's progress is saved with a flag analogously to regular story progress, plus a separate flag which activates WR.
Chapter 4's dr.ini includes a SideB bool. It records if you successfully equipped the ThornRing.
Chapter 5's WR is special. You can't save at any point before the lake scene. When you change locations, Kris won't go back. You'd think the autosave was activated at some point? WRONG! The game never saves before the ending or entering the Dark World. If you succeed at walking across the lake, you get a "Insert Chapter 7 SideB" message. This creates a SEPARATE chapter end filech5_3_b and a separate, independent autosave filech5_9_b. You get an ending file without even an opportunity to save!
dr.ini gets an entry about "sideb" getting unlocked.
Failing at walking across the lake sets the failed WR flag to 1 ie the route is aborted... for now.
