Hi! I've never really written an intro for this blog before, so... uh, here it is, I guess.
You can call me Mel. I'm 23, my pronouns are she/her, but I don't mind they or it. I'm pansexual 💖💛💙 and have been out as queer since I was 13/14. I'm a capricorn, and I'm from the UK. I like dungeons and dragons, comics, reading, and playing video games. I've been a massive nerd since I was a kid, and it's only gotten worse as I've grown lmao.
I'm a fanfic writer, artist, and meme connoisseur that has been using this website for years. If you like what you see here, feel free to stick around. I enjoy the company lmao.

Tags & How They're Used
These are some of my most common tags, and a brief description of how I tend to use them. I've included these tags on this post to make navigation easier in case you wanted to check them out.
#Not my post -> a post that is not mine that I like and want on my blog, so if people want to filter out the nonsense and crap they can.
#Mel art -> when I post a drawing, I'll use this tag, just to show my arty-ness. Usually oc x canon nonsense, so cringe.
#Mel simps -> me being simpy for a character. Most typically Peter Maximoff, though has been applied to characters like Rumi, The Grand Council Woman, and Pepe the King Prawn.
#Mel rants -> I'm being a bitch and going on a tangent or talking shit. Like if something stupid has happened. Most common usage was during my kidney stones saga.
#Mel rambles -> similar to the Mel rants tag, only a bit more uplifting or positive.
#Universe 311619 -> an ongoing project set in my spiderverse oc's universe, used broadly to apply to any works set in there.
#Spider by proxy -> works focusing on my spiderverse oc, specifically. Tobias Tulper, the Spider-By-Proxy.
#Mel memes -> where I post my memes, usually either independently or on a reblog.
#Mel bakes -> when I bake something and want to post it (bread, cookies, cake, etc).
#Dilfsilver -> posts about either older Peter Maximoff or a Peter Maximoff that is also a father. Typically either romantic or sexual/sensual in nature.

This phrase has already entered my vocabulary re: media criticism where like. The viewer has a concrete view of what they expect a story to be based on the tropes and cliches they're used to seeing together, and when that doesn't happen, they judge it as a failed depiction of what they assumed it was going to be instead of judging it as what it actually is.
"This show is problematic because the hero didn't kill the villain at the end": When does he steal the bread?
"These two characters who were close friends throughout the series don't kiss at the end! What the fuck?": When does he steal the bread?
"This feels like it's missing a conclusion! Like, the protagonist does bad stuff and because of a critical decision he makes as a result of his major character flaws, meets tragedy in the end! Where's the part where he learns better and brings is love back from the dead and becomes a good guy and gets a happy ending?": When does he steal the fucking bread??
being a kid and hearing adults say stuff like "woah 2011 was 4 years ago haha" didn't really convey the fucking horror of a youtube video crossing my recommended labelled "9 years ago" and it's from 2017. that's not true. 9 years ago is 2010 or something. don't lie.
And if I said Megamind through its three subversions of Superman shows a deeper understanding that the point of Superman is that he was loved and taught to love by good, present parents, and because of that he is able to return that love to a world even if it doesn't always accept it, and he is not corrupted by his power, than many other films either subverting or playing the superman story straight.
Megamind has three Superman subversions. One is obviously Megamind himself. He was not raised loved by the world, but rather was loved by those hated by the world. Because he was still raised with love, he does care about other people, hence his character development. But because he didn't receive wider love growing up, his own is misplaced at first.
Metro Man was not loved growing up in a way that mattered. His adopted father was clearly very absent, and while we don't know much about his family, their relationship seems superficial. Because of this, his sense of duty to the world is also superficial, hence his boredom.
Hal wasn't raised with power. He gained it and was shown how to use it by a 'space dad' who only taught him power and not love. Hence, he sees it only as a grasping means to an end.
All three of these subversions, in their negative space, create the silhouette of the superhero that they are parodying. That silhouette is of a space child that came to earth and was cared for very deeply by the world, and taught love through his experience of love, and because of that holds fast to his duty to the world. Which is Superman.
