i brought katharine of aquitaine to pride with me
two older women just came up to me and said they like the picture and that she’s a great role model to have🥺
i just reblogged a video of coots and michkov and tagged it michy and his dad and then i got sad cuz i started thinking about how michkov's actual dad is dead and then i was thinking about how coaches often become surrogate parental figures to all athletes but especially ones with dead parents and then was thinking about the coaching experiences he's gotten so far (torts and then tocc) (bad) (not good) and then thinking about how coots is defending michkov to the press and saying he's loved by the team and that they always include him in things and then was thinking about how sad mich will be when coots retires/is traded. and see this is what i mean when i say i get too parasocial about matvei michkov
There is absolutely a platonic explanation for that
But I will also entertain the non platonic for my own edification do u understand

You literally cannot find this type of community interaction on twitter or instagram or any other app. Look at the support, the gratitude, the absolutely incomprehensible shared knowledge of this most cursed, most rare gif.
Truly this is beauty.

For the hockey asks, 6 and 25? :) <3
6. Do you go to games? If so, what’s your favorite part of seeing them in-person? i do! my local (aihl) team recently moved to a different, much nicer rink and they are on a tear. go the brave! i love everything about it really; the energy of the crowd, the pyrotechnics and the DJ, the sound of the game [skate blades and the puck hitting the pipes and men crashing into the boards oh my], getting to scream with my friend, seeing what pwhl/nhl sweaters everyone is wearing. if i had to pick one thing though it's the karaoke they made the teams sing on the bench at the last game i went hahaha 25. What is your favorite thing about watching hockey? can't believe you would do this to me, how can i choose? obviously i love the narratives, which i feel are particularly juicy in hockey (subjective opinion is subjective). i love the fighting and the code; my animal brain needs the violent outlet i think, and all the unwritten rules and loyalties ect are so compelling. i think it's the same thing that makes me love historical court dramas and tales of knights lol codes of conduct! tradition and obligation! honour and sacrifice! im kidding but am i? BUT if i had to pick one thing it's the analytics. i love stats and numbers, i love watching the roster construction happen before my eyes, i love the frequent trades and cap juggling, i love comparing one player to another on elite prospects......the part of me that likes min-maxing in strategy games is very delighted by hockey stats lol. i am resisting getting into fantasy hockey by my fingernails
from these hockey asks

shirley jackson casually asking the pharmacist how much arsenic would be necessary to kill a family
from on fans and fanmail, a lecture by shirley jackson
[ID: a page in a book reading: For instance, I went the other day into our local drugstore and asked them how I would go about getting enough arsenic to poison a family of six. I had expected that they would behave as people would in any proper Agatha Christie book; one of them, I thought, would engage me in conversation in the front of the store, while someone else sneaked out back to call the cops, and I was ready with a perfectly truthful explanation about how the character in my book had to buy arsenic and I needed to find out how to go about it. Instead, though, no one really paid any attention to me. They were very nice about it; they didn't have any arsenic, actually, and would I consider potassium cyanide or an overdose of sleeping pills in-... The last sentence is cut off. /ID]
You can read more of the lecture in the book Let Me Tell You: New Stories, Essays, and Other Writings (link goes to our catalog). The New Yorker also has a 3-part series on Shirley Jackson's lectures! This is excerpt is covered in part 2 (link goes to The New Yorker).
